Explanation of Theme and How it Relates to Personal Experience
The major theme identified from the works “The Fall of the House of Usher” and “A Rose for Emily” is isolation from the society. In the case of both Roderick Usher and Emily, they are mentally unstable, which leads the society to disregard them. In the case of Emily, for instance, she is advised that she should not pay tax in her town, which leads her to become recluse from the society. When away from her society, her head becomes dark (Faulkner & Polk, 2000) . When it comes to Usher, his house is gloomy while it is situated in an unknown location, which affects his mind and leads him to become mentally unstable (Poe, 2006) . When looking at the two stories, it becomes apparent that the isolation that the society directs to them is because of being mentally unstable. From my personal experience, the theme applies to my society whereby individuals with unstable minds are neglected by the society while at the same time being considered as evil. These kinds of individuals are distanced from the society while no person likes associating with them.
Profession Impacted by Identified Theme
In my perspective, the profession I feel would be affected by the theme I have identified is one of being a psychologist. For psychologists, they are forced to deal with a large number of individuals who are mentally unstable. However, it is not possible to address all incidences of mentally unstable individuals because of their uniqueness. Because of this, psychologists are required to have significant patience in order to handle such situations. For the identified theme, it relates to my professional experience whereby I have noticed several individuals of unstable minds being neglected by their peers and thus living a life of isolation (Qun_ying, 2002) . In this case, having a working knowledge of the humanities would be useful in the field because it would make it possible to tolerate individuals with unstable minds and understand ways of coping with such people’s situations.

Humanities Resources Used for Investigating Theme and Artifacts
The humanities resources used to investigate my theme and artifacts will comprise of books, journals, as well as conduct surveys from members of the community. The sources are similar whereby they relate about to the issue of isolation among mentally ill individuals. On the differences, the resources come from different sources, hence offering differing information about the theme. When searching for sources, the major thoughts will revolve around gathering documented evidence from the society about the issue of why certain individuals are isolated by their community, especially those who appear to be unstable mentally (Obuchowski, 1975) . I made the choice after undertaking by comparing the information presented by the resources and selecting the ones offering most relevant information. The major obstacles encountered is getting the members of the community to offer valid information while at the same time the challenges emerging from gathering relevant information from the other sources.
Using Humanities Resources for Research
a. Relationship between Cultural Artifact and Historical Context
Regarding the creation of the artifacts, they are attributed to the Southern Gothic period in which people with mental disabilities were considered as outcasts within the society, hence leading them to be isolated.
b. Similarities and Differences Observed in Cultural Artifacts
On the similarities of the artifacts, the individuals presented in the works were mentally deranged in such a manner that they were isolated from their community. Also, the houses associated with the characters are outdated, while they appear to be neglected. On the differences, the settings of the two stories differ (Allen, 1984) . For instance, Emily has a happy town while life goes on in each direction whereas Roderick appears to be isolated from real life, while no activities go on around him.
c. Medium that Created Cultural Artifacts
Certain mediums have been used to create cultural artifacts. In the work of Faulkner, “A Rose for Emily,” for instance, it emphasizes on gloomy imagery, which the author describes with precise details in text. In the case of Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher,” it utilizes remote locations, such as placing the house of Usher in the middle of nowhere.

Based on my research, the thesis statement concerning the theme and artifacts entails how individuals of unstable minds are isolated from the society and regarded as outcasts by the community.
Target Audience for Theme and Thesis Statement
From the research, the target audience that would match the theme and the thesis statement comprise of healthcare providers, community members, and psychologists to ensure that they understand the challenges that people with unstable minds go through and the ideal measures they should deploy to cope with them.
How to Tailor Message to Audience
In making sure that my audience receives the message from the research, I would embark on making power point presentations as well as publicize in popular newspapers about the challenges that individuals in with mental disabilities experience mostly because of the neglect that is usually directed towards them by the society (Qun_ying, 2002) . In this manner, they would be able to understand the need for caring for such kinds of people and avoid neglecting them. Additionally, they would be able to recognize the need for appreciating people with disabilities.
