Nursing is a vital profession that requires numerous studies to develop the best healthcare services to different people with different medical needs. One of the most significant aspects in the nursing field is the nursing theories which usually act as supporting force of the nursing practice. Theories are essential in nursing practice as well as research design and evidence-based nursing practice since they aid in determining what is already known and what requires to be added (Colley, 2003). In most cases, nurses are at first introduced to nursing theories during their process of learning and later gain more experience in practical training. In research design, theories are used for guiding the research processes through generating and testing phenomena of interest. Therefore, the main reason of embracing theories in nursing is to enhance nursing practice so as to impact patients’ health and quality of life positively (Saleh, 2018). This means that nursing practice and theory have a relationship that can be said to be reciprocal.

The application and usage of qualitative research in nursing is widespread as a way of finding ways to improve patient care. Quantitative analysis in nursing refers to the research method of inquiry where a data collector or researcher aims at answering questions regarding a particular phenomenon. This research method is made possible through the usage of self-reporting tools, questionnaires as well as biophysical measures and observation. The findings from such studies help nurses to decide on the most effective practices that will improve the health of patients (Northeastern State University, 2017). Additionally, the findings also assist nurses in responding to numerous changes that continuously occur in the healthcare setting. The results not only help improve patients’ health but also helps nurses advance in their field and stay up-to-date on the current trends in healthcare hence offering better services. Quantitative research is one of the most effective ways that nurses can use to generate knowledge and evaluations that revolves around the healthcare (Northeastern State University, 2017). Generally, the process involves the collection, assessment and application of research findings.
