"Tobacco Has a Purpose, Not Just a Past"

In essence, for a long time, the people of North America had had a long history with tobacco until recently when it turned out to be a health risk. Notably, the risk is associated with the recreational activity it brings with it. Apparently, more natives are thought to be using it compared to a small number ethnic group. This has resulted in the increase in death caused by the abuse of tobacco. The paper highlights the appropriate cessation processes that are required in pan-tribal population. While the vast population of the Northern America conforms to the use of tobacco, the risk factor associated with its uses is enormous.

The habit of using cigarette for recreation is the chief source of preventable death among the American and Indian native people. The American natives are the leading users of the tobacco followed closely by the African American people. The rate of smoking patterns by this people varies by regions and states. Notably, Alaska records the highest percentage of those using cigarettes at 41% while the African American record 24% of the total number of those people using tobacco in the United States. Apparently, the rate of those women who uses tobacco in Alaska and especially the native speaking people rose from 34% to 41%. While many types of research have focused their study in finding the main reason for the high rate of smoking rates among the American Natives, little has been done to establish a real and concrete solution to this stalemate. Coming up with a strategy that focuses the attention to one particular tribe where the use of tobacco has been prevalent, it would be important if a well-defined strategy is initiated where it will cater for all heterogeneous communities. Since different tribes were plunged into a similar arrangement, multitribal and pan-tribal people started and had turn popular around various areas. Notably, the state of Kansas has a huge population with diverse population all from the urban places. Nonetheless, designing a common strategy that will boost cessation of smoking will be more difficult. Additionally, efficacious strategies for the pan-tribal smoking cessation have not yet been established. However, some interventions have been tried in various Native populations although Kansa has been left aside.

Apparently, Alaska medical for the Natives has come up with the cessation program which has recorded the highest post base-lines. Certainly, the program was designed to focus on the Alaska natives only. However, it acted without tailoring it to a specific culture. Essentially, the package uses a strict combination of the untailored behavioral alteration together with NRT. The result was created by the combination of the American Lung Association and the Cancer Society of the United States.

The rate was measured, and it stood at 21% similar to other cessation platforms. Since the program was tailored without cultural consideration of the Alaska natives, it was unclear if it would be successful if it were tailored to Alaska Native people and their cultural heritage. Additionally, it would be inappropriate to use the same program on a population that consisted of a variety of people with diversified culture. Nonetheless, the program ought to have considered the traditional use of the tobacco by the native Indian American. In places such as Northwest Coast population various attempt to change the existing policy aimed at reducing the level of disclosure to the recycled smoke and start the modifications in such tobacco strategies. Furthermore, the development of these programs is underway in such population.

The program had a distinct slogan of which asserted the essence of individual life. Notably, the cessation program was undertaken in four different counties alongside various rural hospitals located in northern California. Nonetheless, research indicates that the program was successful end to smoking especially in the natural society. However, the program was not tried in other places and populations. Various researchers indicated the greatest actual messages for the usage by the California Native population associated with the wide traditional character. Additionally, family accountability, conformity to a tribe, and the overall respect to the use of tobacco product was some factors that had to be considered in setting up the program.

Strategies such as giving the American natives the abandoning of smoking study was undertaken to analyze the viability and the efficiency of the starting a smoking cessation intervention via the health clinics. This act widely served the pan-tribal population of the vast American Indians. The major aim of the program was to come up with a schedule that would enable doctors to help smokers recover from their various situations. It was concluded that the modified strategy would create a major increase in smoking cessations rather than the usual care system.

Nonetheless, the intervention outlaid major principles where patients were screened for smoking habit, application of the smoke cards to remind the providers, supporting reinforcement by clinic staffs, and discussing the smoking cessation strategy with the attended patients. Apparently, the intervention took seven days and indicated no difference with other methods. Regrettably, the potential reasons for the null effects included the; application of an incomplete intervention towards the patients, variety of the topic was not exposed to the strategy, problems that started earlier implicating the clinic staff and the targeted population. And lack sufficient cultural tailoring.

In essence, the American legacy foundation and preventive measure for the whole Native population on the issues of tobacco were initiated in the year 2000. Notably, this was mainly due to dreadful cessation rates among the Inhabitants and limited efficiency cessation programs available for the population. The assemblage presented various commendations aimed at the expansion of the cessation platform that took care of the sensitivity of the culture. especially for the Native American people. Apparently, some of this recommendations included strategies that would encourage more natives to the tobacco cessation program, efforts by the researchers to collect the available information on the use of tobacco in the already existing data strategies that outlined the major differences among the customary and recreational usage of tobacco.

In conclusion, cultural or recreational usage of tobacco has taken a different route across the globe. Notably, American population is thought to be among the highest usage of tobacco in the world. Essentially, the Alaska/India American Natives are the highest population that consumes tobacco for either purpose. Regrettably, women are also among those who use this substance. Coming up with a strategy that will help in reducing the use of this substance is critical. Nonetheless, the relevant medical care should design a program that will safeguard and respect the cultural usage of the tobacco rather than just eliminating it.
