Modern computers come with a number of pre-installed software including the System Restore tool. Before Windows 7 came into use, people would use a disc when resetting the computer back to factory settings. Currently, this function is easily available on computers and the function can be performed easily at the click of a button. Additionally, the tool creates spare copies of important files and programs within the computer system when certain tasks are performed (Kuyumdzhiev, 2019). The System Restore tool can also be used to repair the computer system in the event that the system files become corrupted or unstable.
The System Image Backup is a function available to the Windows system. Windows allows a user to make copies for images of the whole operating system in case the system Restore tool is used to repair broken files (Beard, 2018). Images that can be backed up include system files, personal files and any programs that a user may have installed. While the system restore and the system image backup may seem similar in function, they have slight differences between them. The system restore allows a user to pick restore points and system updates from time to time. The system image backups allow a user to create a backup or an alternative copy of the operating system in its entirety, while allowing a user to dictate their preferred location where they would like to save the backup (Chaudhary, 2017. Usually, the backups of operating systems are saved on hard drives, a network location or CDs. The backup of an operating system allows a person to easily regain certain software and files installed in their computer incase a laptop is lost or gets damaged.

The third tool is the Microsoft OneDrive which allows a user to save their files and store them online where they have a Microsoft account. OneDrive allows a Microsoft user to save an extra copy of everything on their gadgets on the One Drive to avoid damage or loss of files and software if a laptop, desktop or mobile phone gets damaged or lost. A user is then able to access their stored and saved files by signing in to their Microsoft account.
