Total Quality Management (TQM) refers to a management framework that hinges on the belief that an organization can establish long-term success by its entire staff from low-ranking workers to highest-level executives concentrating on quality improvement which enhances customer satisfaction. TQM maintains that organizations focus on all its energy on process improvement over the long haul instead concentrates on the short term monetary gains. TQM outlines a series of methods by which organizations can achieve long-term benefits ( Zehir, Ertosun, Zehir & Müceldilli, 2012). The methods entail continuous improvement on the use of data, strategy and effective communication to teach a discipline of upholding quality in the firm’s culture as well as processes.
Importantly, under TQM emphasis is placed on the processes that organization relies on for product production. The approach demands that organizations define the said processes continuously examine and evaluate their performance and use the resultant data to guide improvements. Employees of the organization must participate fully in the monitoring and evaluation process as well the improvement initiatives to make the process successful ( Zehir et al., 2012). In the same regard, employees must understand the objectives of TGM which includes eliminating waste and enhancing efficiencies by the production of a product or a service follows the right procedure in the very first time.

Furthermore, TQM includes the formulation of strategic management goals and strategic goals with quality taking center stage. Strategies determine how best the organization thrives in the face of stiff competition at the marketplace. Another relevant provision of TQM is that emphasizes on fact-based decision-making approach as opposed to reactionary decisions. In fact-based decision making, data analyzed informs the final decision; consensus among decision makers also takes precedence ( Zehir et al., 2012). Good decisions enhance prosperity in the organization while poor ones cause destabilization. In light of the above, it suffices to conclude that TQM plays an integral role in the success of a business in the current competitive marketplace.
