Leadership models are guidelines prescribing specific leadership attitudes and behaviors (Bush & Glover, 2014). The leadership models focus on leaders concerns on tasks and people in predicting the outcome of leadership. Another model takes into account four standard concepts to guide leadership behaviors. The final broad leadership category utilizes situational leadership to guide leaders on the coaching to develop workers. This paper will shed light on the comparison and the contrast in the traits possessed by both transformational and charismatic leadership styles.

Transformational Leadership

Transformational leadership is a useful model when a leader lacks a charming personality o influence others (Bush & Glover, 2014). For transformational leadership to be affected, common organizational vision and missions are established in a way in which individuals can identify themselves. Ideological opinions take center stage rather than the leaders. The ideas hold the leaders and their subordinate together towards the set objectives. Transformational readership calls for understanding the strengths and aspirations of those following the leaders. It utilizes the understanding of the followers as a catalyst to achieve the greater organization's goals (Bush & Glover, 2014). Transformational leadership takes plenty of time to master and be proficient in, although it yields desirable and sustainable results. There is a creation of a sense of transparency between the leaders and the subordinates (Bush & Glover, 2014). It allows for active communication channels upwards to the managers and downwards to the followers. The model enables segregation of work and also ensures that a leader is not the only one handling tasks and talking. The followers can also contribute their ideas and opinions to the way they are to be directed. Transformational leaders are bound to listen carefully to the subordinates for them to develop their reputation and trust (Bush & Glover, 2014). Transformational leaders work towards inspiring social changes by not losing sight of their role.

Charismatic Leadership

Charismatic Leadership is a leadership model that utilizes very influential individuals to direct efforts towards the attainment of specific predetermined objectives (Darke, Darke & Darke, 2018). Individuals with charismatic traits always seem honest, trustworthy and passionate on an idea. The hiccup in the charismatic leadership style i s the burden of the views to sell is entirely on the leaders (Darke, Darke & Darke, 2018). The leadership style is subjective since it leaves no room for the subordinate contribution to the arrangement. The danger of the one person business arises since the ideas developed may be compromised since they are only restricted to a shallow opinion of an individual. Consultation and idea contribution is hindered due to the centralization of attention on a few influential individuals.

The leadership style is prone to manipulation and may also be characterized by personal ideas being forced on people despite their belief and opinions (Darke, Darke & Darke, 2018). The leaders may act for their benefit even though some will not. A leader possessing a charismatic personality can create a positive influence on the followers if he or she can make them believe in the ideas he intends to institute. Such a leadership model, under ideal circumstances, enables followers to choose the kind of charismatic leader who holds similar opinions and believes identical to theirs (Darke, Darke & Darke, 2018). Leading relying on only a charismatic model may not be sufficient enough since it is limited in several ways.

C harismatic Vs. Transformational Leadership

Transformational readership and charismatic serve different purposes due to the nature of their setting (Darke, Darke & Darke, 2018). An individual with charisma can quickly draw attention to themselves enabling creation of group unity. The demerit on charismatic leadership style is the significant attention is focused on the leader creating a centralized leadership program. Charismatic leadership, without transformational leadership, cannot be relied upon to institute sustainable leadership (Darke, Darke & Darke, 2018).

On its own, charismatic leadership can mislead people hence transformational readership is utilized to fill in the loopholes. For o ne to develop a model that is neither too lax nor too strict, a combinational leadership is necessary to facilitate better decision making. Charisma contributes a desirable style on how to direct efforts while transformational method adds substance. The combination of both strategies produces the beneficial approach.

Character Traits from Charismatic and Transformational Leadership

An organization does not strictly rely on charismatic leadership, a perfect combination of transformational readership places an organization on the right track towards the realization of goals and objectives (Darke, Darke & Darke, 2018). Charisma entails a sense of style and confidence and a personality hard to pin down. Charismatic qualities attract people and influence them in an inspirational way to action. Charismatic leaders possess excellent communication skills which help them stay grounded in things (Darke, Darke & Darke, 2018). Charismatic leaders also behave in a reasonable, mature way that objects responsibility in every possible way. The leaders are too humble and compassionate which separates them from a mere hero.

On the other hand, transformational leaders keep in check their ego to avoid interfering with the interest of the larger group (Darke, Darke & Darke, 2018). They put the organizational goals before their interest by getting the best out of everyone under their leadership. Transformational leaders are self-managed and highly personally motivated and may not necessarily seek external motivators. The leaders are also good risk takers since they have an incredible ability to assess the risk levels (Darke, Darke & Darke, 2018). The risk-taking ability equips them with the skill to make the tough decision when they arise. The transformational leaders are also good at new ideas since their methodology is a comprehensive strategy of involving every on despite the level. Finally, transformational leaders can maintain and sustain the organization vision as they lead with a vision (Darke, Darke & Darke, 2018).

Leadership models are guidelines prescribing leadership behaviors. A transformational leader should be able to impact changes and transformation of people. The main concern is on emotions, values, long-term goals and ethics. A leader should influence followers to the accomplishment of more than expected. For one t o make the attainment of the organization vision, a leader should also possess charisma to influence, motivate and create confidence. The paper addresses the distinction and commonness in charismatic and transformational leadership.
