On efficiency, the nurse will be responsible for attending to numerous patients within a single shift within a limited duration while requiring operating efficiently. The student will ensure to improve multi-tasking and time-management skills, and delegating more tasks as required in an organized manner. Concerning accuracy, the RN will ensure to exercise accuracy and diligence in everything accomplished, while focusing on in-depth comprehension of intake, charting, assessment of vital signs, and discharge instructions and orders (Thibault, 2011) . Regarding patient care improvements, the RN will direct focus toward patient care while minimizing the time spent on individual patients, especially on matters related to non-emergent cases, including comfort care.

Holistic Life Balance 

In maintaining a balance in personal and in the professional nurse role within the first year the student will ensure to invest in self-care. Aside from sufficient rest, the student will take proper diet to avoid gaining weight and compromising health. The student will also make sure to maintain a healthy diet in line with remaining active to minimize stress. Additionally, the student will set priorities, including continuing with education and travel among other areas. At five years, the student will make sure to develop lasting relations with colleagues to assist in supporting a collaborative and peaceful work environment. It will assist in maintaining professionalism and dealing with conflicts. In addition, the student will focus on a realistic schedule to correspond with personal life (Cameron & Brownie, 2010) . Whereas it might not be possible, the student should request shifts during most efficient day times.

Stressors and Challenges 

When working as an RN nurse, the student should expect certain stressors and challenges. For instance, being short staffed might bring personal and professional issues. With insufficient staff, the student would need to take more shifts, cover for the absences of colleagues, and miss vital life events. The social life would suffer as well. Short staffing is a major reason behind nurses experiencing burnout. Nursing serves as a stressful job while lacking sufficient time for caring for self and relaxing would make the student to become unsatisfied and frustrated with the job. The student should also expect long shifts. Nurses need to work for extended hours. This might be due to the hospital lacking sufficient staff or cutting costs by management. For any reason, longer working hours are detrimental while they can affect the care quality delivered and risking their health. Working for long hours does not provide the body with sufficient resting time, while these might result to issues, such as shoulder, neck , and chronic back pain . It might also be possible to develop long-term medical issues, including cardiovascular issues and diabetes. Lack of sufficient rest might lead to daytime sleepiness, impaired mental function and fatigue, which affect the capacity for making proper decisions, hence comprising the safety of patients. Discrimination also serves as an additional stressor. New nurses experience intimidation while forced to adjust to various new things. Aside from the skills required to gain, the student would need to know ways of coping with ways that the hospital’s nursing system operates. Unluckily, not all veteran nurses are usually welcoming (Timmins, Corroon, Byrne, & Mooney, 2011) . These attitudes usually dull the motivation of new nurses leading them to question whether the career choice they made was ideal.

Lifelong Learning 

Within the first year, the anticipated educational development would revolve coping with the increasing challenges in healthcare. The professional nursing care nature revolves around learning. This area has become more challenging than ever due to numerous advances and technology that combines information while emerging evidence based knowledge at a rapid pace. At five years, the student may experience increasing demands from the profession, mostly because of increased responsibilities, which might overwhelm the learner. Thus, the student will need to ensure to focus on devoting time to learning about the emerging areas in nursing to offer the adequate care that patients might require. The student will also need to learn of the expectations of families and their patients by focusing on delivering highest probable quality care (Coady, 2017) . The student in this sense will ensure to focus on educating their self on healthcare treatments and conditions to deliver optimal care.

Professional Contributions 

Contribution to Nursing Community 

In contributing to the professional nursing community, the student will embark on certain activities during the first year. Firstly, the student will ensure to serve as a community educator. As an educator, the nurse will emphasize on presenting materials in understandable and clear formats. The student will offer information to families, individuals, and communities that establish a framework for healthy choices and living. In schools, the student will focus on teaching the children the importance of getting enough sleep, eating a well-balanced diet and exercising every day. At five years, in public settings, the student will hold seminars and classes relating to managing diabetes and hypertension. Overall, the student will emphasize on community health education, which will serve as a means of preventive care. In this manner, it will be possible to reduce the incidences of illnesses in the community while improving the overall health of the entire community.

Student’s Own Professional Development 

The student will need a means of assessing data to help in the delivery of safe patient care while at the same time improving the quality of the care. Here, the student would ensure to solidify relationship with patients by following the set guidelines and expectations that the two sides understand. To boost the perception of the patients, the student would set out clear ideas on patient expectations to boost the level of satisfaction of the patients. This would increase their potential for following healthcare plans, which would translate to positive outcomes (Cameron & Brownie, 2010) . Setting the anticipations for the patients based on their life circumstances and abilities early would allow the student to improve the relationship with the patients, boost health outcomes, and minimize incidences of readmission.
