Treatment and care for Myocardial Infarction depend greatly in the ability to rapidly diagnose the condition in patients and subsequently subject them to immediate treatment. Cardiac cauterization is defined by Ibanez et al. (2017) as a medical procedure that is done to examine the level at which a human heart works. Data revealed by the World Health Organization reveals that about half a million people die of Cardiac arrests. On top of that, much of these deaths come about due to lack of Cardiac Catheterization. From these data, one can conclude that a gap indeed exists on care for Myocardial Infarction Patients. There is a need to handle the topic of care for myocardial infarction with seriousness.

Summary of Research

The research article by Sridhar Reddy and Kwan S. Lee sought to examine how cardiac catheterization is helpful in myocardial infarction patients. The study conducted a review of existing information, including the medical guidelines for care and treatment of myocardial infarction and other heart diseases. Additionally, the study analyzed the medical procedures currently and their effectiveness on the management of heart diseases. The information used in the research study is obtained from cardiac management experts as well as nurses in the same specialization. A review of post-arrest electrocardiogram (ECG) was conducted to determine how the procedure was done in the past two years as well as currently. On this note, the timing of the ECG as well as the limitations related to it were conducted to evaluate the procedure. The study sought the difference in the various guidelines given by the American Heart Association (AHA), which were updated in 2010 as well as 2015. In addition to that, the research reviewed the procedure of angiography and its effect on the care for heart disease patients. From the reviews, the researchers noted the need for myocardial infarction patients to be taken through the procedure of coronary angiography in case of availability of ST elevation revealed by the post-arrest electrocardiogram. The timing of the angiography procedure was also reviewed as recommended by experts and the American Heart Association.

The study by Reedy and Lee was conducted in 2018 and published on the Current Cardiology Reviews journal. The study found out that the patients suspected with cardiac etiology at post cardiac ECG were proposed for coronary angiography. Apart from that, the study also conducted an observation of test samples and patient test results, which later revealed displayed some sense of the link between coronary angiography and survival of cardiac disease patients. The research gave a summary of guidelines issued by the American Heart Association, the European Society of Cardiology, and the American College of Cardiology. All these institutions recommend an ECG to be obtained by patients as soon as they experience symptoms of any sort of a heart problem.

This study offers great value to myself and anyone in the field of clinical care. Besides the ordinary ways of doing things and handling patients, the study offers great knowledge on how to specifically handle and care for myocardial infarction patients. Additionally, it offers education and confidence to provide recommendations for any patient in this particular field of treatment. This research study is specific to the recommendations of various institutions that are tasked by the role of finding care and cure procedures for myocardial problems in patients. The review of procedures in the previous years and their subsequent updates enables one to deeply understand the various procedures. On top of that, the research article points out the most important aspects of care for patients with myocardial infarction, knowledge which will be of great application to my future career as a clinical nurse.
