The research question is how flexibility can help youth with an autism spectrum disorder to adapt accordingly and enhance their quality of life. It is an exciting focus given that individuals with autism are conditioned in a biased manner. However, with a means to help with the disorder, then adaptive behavior can be achieved. The hypothesis tested was on whether social flexibility can aid individuals with autism and help with skills such as communication and socialization. The participants came from the Center for Autism Research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia between 201 and 2016. The researchers’ design used BRIEF (Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function) to indicate impairments in different skill areas. Later, the parent-completed questionnaires would provide grounds for adaptability using flexibility. The procedure used was to analyze secondary data got from the National Health system associated with autistic studies. A VABS-II socialization domain would be administrated where cognitive and diagnostic measures would be generated to help the individuals. As it turns out, the results were significant because the examination of the Flexibility Scale-Revised showed that social flexibility accounted for enhancement in socialization skills across ages. The critical implications emanating from the results show that specific flexibility goes a long way in solving problems on adaptive behavior. Significance variance was noticed when BRIEF was used to determine the diversity in adaptive behaviors. Assessment of flexibility skills was thus made possible by the research, which translates to the utilization of social flexibility. It is a no-brainer that such knowledge regarding how to help out individuals with social situations is revolutionary. Explorations made on specific skills in flexibility can go a long way in allowing adaptive functioning among youths living with autism and other related conditions.
