Is our population density responsible for any negative effects on the American Environment?
The American population has grown quite fast over the last a hundred years. The population reached the hundred million mark by the early twentieth century. After just about fifty years, the population had doubled itself. By the year 2006, the total United States population had crossed the three hundred million mark. Leniency on immigration policies and illegal immigration are some of the factors for the rapid population growth in the United States. Consequently, there has been a lot of concern over the environment due to the high population density of the country. America, for instance, is one of the world's largest consumer of fossil fuel, which is partly due to its large population. Americans’ love for cars contributes towards this fact. America is the second largest carbon dioxide emitter after China for the burning of fossil fuels. Excessive burning of fossil fuels does not only contribute to global warming but also puts the whole world at risk of running out of natural oil. It may also cause disasters such as oil wars in the future.
What, in your opinion, is the greatest threat that our population density poses to the American Environment?
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
What worries most American most is not even the issue of global warming or the loss of the tropical rain forests. Environmental surveys suggest that Americans are always most worried about pollution of drinking water, lakes, rivers and water reservoirs. It is obvious that water is the number priority for such a huge population, yet the issue of water pollution may as well result from the high population density. However, I feel that the increased ownership, love and manufacture of cars due to the increasing demand of the increasing population is the greatest threat to the American and global environment. Used cars are disposed of causing pollution on land. More cars mean more oil consumption, CO2 emission, increased global warming and more depletion of natural resources.
