Drones have gained a commercial interest over the past years, but the UAS operations are maintained mostly exclusive (Dalamagkidis, Valavanis, &Piegl, 2008). It is caused by a lack of regulatory framework, thus only the civil UAS and the limited public being allowed, thus facing restrictions. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is implementing a way of integrating UAS in the NAS (National Airspace System). However, the ruling is predicted to take several years before it can be achieved. The developers of UAS are required to be aware of the operational restrictions which exist and conduct enough research so that they can make informed decisions on the issue.

The Unmanned Aircraft Systems are faced with an issue of being integrated into the National Airspace System (NAS). One of the challenges causing it is lack of the onboard pilot who will comply with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) in America. The pilot is responsible for seeing and avoiding other aircraft. For the integration to take place, UAS will be required to demonstrate how the function will be carried out and ensure that the safety of the aircraft is maintained. A Sense and Avoid (SAA) concept has been provided for stopping the integration as indicated by NASA, stating that there are experimental evaluations that should be carried out (Consiglio, Chamberlain, Munoz, &Hoffler, 2012).

In 2017, a drone crashed into the Seattle Space Needle, and the results were injured workers who were in the site. The drone owner did not first survey the landmark to make sure that the drone could move without causing an accident. In 2018, there was a report of a drone flying illegally, and it resulted in an aircraft crash. The owner of the drone was flying without a permit which means they did not follow safety flying measures. The sighting was credible because it was recorded in a video.
