Importance to America

The Israeli-Palestine conflict is important to the US administration and the World as a whole. The current US government has reported that the conflict is one of the world’s most intractable problems, and it impacts the US interests in the Middle East region. America has shown that resolving the conflict would be accomplishing a key US national security goal in the Middle East. It is reported that the conflict between Palestine and Israel is a source of resentment and hinders US relationship in the region.

In a recent meeting with Middle East leaders, including the Kuwait’s Emir, President Donald Trump reported that they are working on a resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. However, there has been criticism that the Trump administration is pushing for more extreme policies in the regions. The policies have been described by the Palestine government as radical and not practical. In this context, the US president is reportedly seeking to formulate a centrist and cautious foreign policy. The policies are not tactical in nature and they are abolishing everything President Obama stood for. The trump policies have been criticized for recognizing Jerusalem as Israelis capital. Trump has also portrayed an intention that he does not share in Obama policy in which there is condemnation of Israel for its settlement and housing units plans in the conflict area.

Trump is expected to allow Israel in building settlement blocs in the conflict area. The US embassy in Israel is expected to facilitate this activity. Additionally, Trump will be discussing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with other world leaders in order to get an amicable solution to the conflict. Through the assistance of diplomats in the US state department, Trump will eventually embrace an idea of two-state solution. This will be in line with the George W Bush letter of 2004, in which President Bush recognized that the US supports the establishment of a Palestinian State that is Viable, contiguous, sovereign and independent.

History and Importance of the Conflict

The conflict is important due to its strategic location; its proximity to the oil-rich Middle East region. Countries such as Saudi, Iran, and Qatar are in support of Palestine because it is a Muslim country and they consider the Jewish Israel as an enemy. Consequently, these countries find it easy to support Palestine with weapons and other sorts of support. The US has been supporting Israel in this conflict because it wants to use it to gain influence in this oil-rich Middle East region. They use it to get oil supplies and market for war machinery. Gaining influence in this region is a big win because Israeli is considered as a sacred geography. This area is a central element in the region because the world’s major religions have holy sites in this region; the Judaism, Christianity, and Islam view this as a significant region. Therefore, the conflict is occurring on holy land and this is the reason why the conflict has elicited intense feelings than any other conflicts.

The US has provided Israel with the highest amount of financial and military assistance than any other foreign country. The conflict is importance to show how far America can go in facilitating cease-fire accords. The country has been channeling financial aid to Israel in a bid to show commitment towards securing lasting peace and foster democracy and economic growth in the Middle East region. During the 80’s the US had worked to improve and open communication channels with Israel and Palestine in a bid to achieve peace and democracy in the region. The US government dispatched high-level officials including secretaries of state and ambassadors and this led to reopening of communication channels between US and Palestinian governments.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is important to the world because it shows how hard it is to stop a war that has a religious inclination. On one side the conflict shows the conflict of the Muslim communities who are held in conflict. Fellow Muslim from around the world can identify with the Muslims held in war. Similarly, the Jewish community from around the world can relate to and show intense feelings towards the Israelis who are suffering in the conflict. This has led to a global outcry and calls to end the conflict. Addition, the war is viewed to as a reference in that if the world leaders can succeed in bringing peace between these two countries they can be able to solve world problems. When that happens, the world will move forward beyond a conflict that has perpetuated for decades.

President Bush and Obama have also utilized the method of sending high profile government officials to help push for the warring countries to stop the conflict. Additionally, Bush called Palestinians to elect new leaders, leaders not compromised by terror. Bush highlighted that Palestine renunciation and cessation of terrorism and ending of Israeli settlement expansion as the best strategies that can be used to bring to an end the conflict between the two countries.
