Values are the principles and standards of human behavior based on personal judgment of what is essential in life. It is what a set of behavior that one chooses and decides to be necessary actions from one’s personal judgment based on what has been learned from the community. My values are the causes of actions that I choose to be important based on my own judgment and experience. For example, respect is a value based on a personal judgment that respecting others is an essential action in human life.
Values influence the choice of a career as well as an employer. Before choosing a career or accepting a job offer, one must identify personal values and compare them with the most cherished work values. Job satisfaction is realized when the work values are cherished and when a person feels the career will allow her to exercise her values. For example, when one has values such as respect, helping others and integrity, it will impact what career one chooses and the kind of employer to work with. This will prompt an individual to select a career and an employer who will allow one to continue exercising personal values. The impact of values on the career and employer choice is therefore based on the idea that people always want to have a career and a job that match their values and that which will not make them conflict their values.

My three central values are honesty, morality, and justice. I always believe in the truth and being honest with everyone and in everything I do. My value impacts every decision I make for being honest. I consider the importance of being frank and using facts while making any decision. Similarly, my values for morality is based on my belief in keeping and maintaining ethical standards, integrity, and honor. Any decision I make is based on my moral values which always become the guiding tool. Before making any decision about a course of action, the choice must match my morality values. For example, if any course of action seems to conflict with my morality values, I consider dropping that course of action and making another moral decision. The next values are justice. I believe in the need to treat people fairly while at the same time conforming to the truth and facts. This always affects the decisions I make because I prefer to maintain my values by making decisions that are just and fair to everyone. My parents expect me to be honest, moral and just, therefore, making my values to match with their expectations.
The values I would wish to develop are being innovative and knowledgeable. To become innovative, I will need to improve on my critical thinking by reading wide and interacting with the most innovative people. This will expand my creativity and make me creative. Being knowledgeable also require doing a lot of research and reading a variety of information to obtain an understanding of facts and issues at hand. Before deciding with a significant employer, I will seek for extreme values such as integrity, empathetic and transparency. I would prefer a company that has high standards of integrity and strong moral principles. This is a company that does not engage in any actions that are deemed to conflict any moral values. Empathetic involves the ability to understand the challenges of others and how to care for them by maximizing their potential. This value is useful for the workers as it motivates them to remain focused and feel someone cares for their challenges. Companies also need to stay transparent and honest while dealing with all stakeholders.
