The word victim makes an individual think that they are innocent and people who claim innocent are in some instances guilty. Such a statement is acceptable while studying Victimology, a branch of criminology. Since hundreds of guilty victims contributed to their victimization and since some lawbreakers can also be genuine victims deserving of protection and redress in the criminal law court, it is necessary for criminologist and correction officer to be aware, and be taught that victims sometimes are real criminals (Burgess, 2017).
In my life, there are several instances where I have inflicted pain and disturbed people peace, but I have ended up being a victim. There is a recent instance in high school, where me and my friend Tony, we found ourselves in hot soup after an attempt to bully freshmen’s but never ended up well, we were beaten and got deep cuts in our bodies. We reported the case to the Deputy Principal, who conducted an investigation, and found that we incited the fight and punished us too.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
The second instance is a home fight with my young brother. I had grown fond of snatching gamepads from my brother every time I found him gaming. I remember vividly one Saturday morning when I took the gamepads things went sour, and brother attacked me and broke my left hand, I pleaded not guilty, but my mother never punished my brother since my mother was aware of my behavior and she held me guilty for my actions.
Law officers have different views on victims and identify victims on two ideologies categories related to crime. First, conservative ideology, law enforcement officers hold a belief that every person is somehow responsible for their own victimization, and it's the responsibility of every person to take precautionary and avoid becoming victimized. The second ideology is liberal identity the officers hold a belief that it is their role to provide support and assistance to victims and that those people who ended up as the victim didn't certainly play a part in becoming victimized (Birdsall,2018).
The study of victimization by correction officers will assist the justice system in determining if a victim of crime is guilty or guiltless, the study also helps them deal and charge individuals who pretend to be victims of crime, but in a real sense they are responsible for their own victimization (White,2018). An example of positivist victimology, in 2011, a Canadian police constable urged student groups that women should cease from dressing like sluts to avoid being victimized, there have been some cases where women behavior have contributed to sexual assaults.
