The emphasis on the need to improve the quality of intelligence analysis is apparent throughout the reading of the material presented by Heuer, & CIA, (1999). There is a deliberate effort to value information that has stood the taste of time. The author is keen to note that the complex subject of intelligence analysis is dynamic. As such, holding fixed approaches premised on experience are likely to lead to mistakes and wrong conclusion. It is, however, key to also note that the understanding of the human thought process gives analysts a better foundation of examining complex and incomplete information they handle. The knowledge on the working of the human thinking process enables analysts to premise reason by choosing the most logical model, evaluate their choosing process, and foresee a probable future of the case. This essay highlights the significance of the presented publication by Heuer, & CIA, (1999) by highlighting its pros and cons and possible improvement in the current world.

The main advantage of Heuer, & CIA, (1999), is that it recognizes the fact that there is a need to better the analysis of intelligence. It goes further to dedicate a whole chapter (14) that proposes the possible ways of improving the analysis process. The publication, however, fails to identify the likely impact of technology on the improvement of intelligence analysis. It, therefore, forms its main shortcomings. Probably it is because the book was published in 1999. New technologies such as artificial intelligence were less developed. Nonetheless, they have developed significantly. Therefore, it is prudent to include the role of artificial intelligence and how it can facilitate an improved analysis of intelligence.

In conclusion, the publication is still relevant. It highlights the significant contributors to the development of intelligence analysis. Additionally, it is keen to emphasize on the need to advance tools of analysis. As such, all the material should be preserved for future intelligence analysts. The list of major contributors to the subject should also be updated to include recent works.
