Courage

Courage is a virtue that describes one’s ability to approach challenges without fear. Instead of running away from a problem, a person formulates solutions that could make the situation better. A person may also make bold but unpopular decisions that elevate the state of affairs thus providing a breakthrough to a particular challenge. Courage has many applications in all spheres of life. One of those areas is in the healthcare system. Professionals in this field usually encounter various problems while offering services to patients. First, the individual may lack the proper will power to disclose certain information to the client on different matters like the diagnosis and death of the loved ones. The healthcare professional may be unsure of the reaction the patient will portray when confronted with such news. Courage will help the individual to formulate the best approach and ways of responding to different reactions the client may portray.

Patience

Patience refers to a person’s ability to accept delays in the quest for certain desires. It also describes one’s decision to persevere to a particular condition with an expectation of the situation improving with time. Lack of patience has resulted in people abandoning their goals after encountering obstacles on the way. This virtue also has application in many spheres of life including the health sector. Professionals in this field may experience a lack of desirable results when treating patients (Haddad & Geiger, 2018). For instance, doctors' and nurses' main duty is to save the lives of people suffering from various ailments. Some of the treatment methods those professionals employ may not improve the patient’s condition within a given time and may be tempted to give up on them. However, one needs to continue serving the client until he/she is healed. Healthcare professionals also need to be patient when developing an intervention for particular diseases. They need to make many trials until they get a cure for a certain illness.
