Do first world countries make other countries poor

First world countries such as the United States and Europe do not make third world countries such as Africa poor but instead, help them by providing aid since they already have high gross domestic product (GDP) and human development index (HDI) as defined by the UN. They have provided international markets for developing countries in order to increase the demand for their exports. This will help them to economically empower the marginalized groups and also improve the economic diversification. The foreign investment also has a direct impact on the economic growth of poor nations. Developing countries depend on developed countries economic policies in order to stimulate their own economic growth.

Are first world countries making poverty worse or they are part of the solution?

Developments in health, trade, and education sectors are necessary for developing countries and the governments of developed nations are taking the responsibility of helping them. United Nations (UN) has a target of 0.7% of contribution from first world countries in order to help poor nations. UN provides aid in the following ways: first is the Humanitarian aid. This kind of aid is given during times of distress, for example, natural disasters until the state is able to support itself. Secondly is improving the healthcare sector by fighting diseases such as HIV/AIDS. World Health Organization (WHO) is an agency within the UN which is concerned with international public health and finally helping the poor countries expand their markets and attract new investors to the country.

How people in first world countries help reduce poverty in developing countries

People in developed countries can help to reduce poverty in poor countries by first Investing in less developed countries. Investments create jobs and stimulate economic growth which is important in improving welfare and reducing poverty. Investments also help to integrate developing and developed countries into a global market therefore, increasing economic growth which will, in turn, lead to improved living standards. Secondly is that they can also make donations to the UN or its agencies in order to assist for example in the delivery of food to countries in crisis and save lives during emergencies.
