Japanese colonized Korea; it contained Americans in the South Korea and the Soviet in the North Korea. The 38th parallel line of latitude divides the North Korea and South Korea. Goldfield (2017) discuss that in 1949, civil war in China influenced it to become a Communist nation. The leader of China together with Stalin changed leader from North Korea to attack South Korea. The countries provided every aid necessary as well as military equipment and in June 1950 the attack on South Korea went underway resulting in Korean War. It is important to note that the USSR was not directly involved in the war.
According to Current (2008), the belief of "domino theory" led American involved in the war. The USA takes the lead as they influenced the UN to get involved since they seem to have unity. The USA has the entire mandate to control the military. Between June and September 1950, the North Koreans pushed the South Koreans into Pusan area and by November the South Koreans troops together with the UN manages to push the North Koreans back. MacArthur was given a warning by China not to cross the 38th parallel which he disobeyed. As a result, Chinese get involved in the war and sent the UN back, and they used North Korean troops to South Korea expecting them to surrender. In 1951, the UN managed to drive North Koreans together with Chinese back to the Communist part of Korea. In 1953, the signing of armistice ended the war ( Goldfield, 2017).

The USA had played a significant role in the growth and development of Cuba up to 1959. They had invested heavily in Cuban industries, and they were the principal importer of their industrial goods. In 1934, an official military name Fulgencio Batista was made by the USA to assume power. His government was corrupt and not favorite, and it was this that led him to be overthrown and replaced by Fidel Castro, a Communist. The takeover was a severe blow to the USA as a nation in her sphere of influence was becoming a Communist one (Hoover, 2015). The situation looks awkward for a powerful anti-Communist country having a Communist nation just a few kilometers away. Castro decided to chase all American companies and industries out of Cuba. The USA has to act on this, and they took all imports of Cuban sugar staring from 1960, cut all trade activities with Cuba in October 1960 and finally they ended all diplomatic relations in January 1969. These actions were expected to deteriorate Cuba's economy since the USA was their major contributor to their economy (Current, 2008). American had hopes that Castro would finally give in, but to their disappointment, Cuba achieves. Cuba turns to be USA's enemy, and Castro began to get help and aid from Soviets in the form of weapons (Zubok, 2009). The USA and CIA formed a group of ex-politicians in Florida with the aim of taking over Cuba from Castro. The operation to remove Castro from power failed, and as a result, Castro declared Cuba a Communist nation in December 1961.
Goldfield (2017) adds that the effort of the USA to stop the spreading of communist resulted in the loss of life where many Americans, South Koreans, and North Koreans lost their life. It was triggered by leaders from China together with Stalin who influenced leaders from North Korea to attack South Korea. The UN gained fame and respect because of its actions unlike the League of Nations. The USA support of Cuban industries and factories leads to spreading of Communism in the region. The takeover of Castro was the start of Communism in the area and trying to remove him in power resulted in war and hostility. Cold war spread was no longer confined only in Europe, but also its range to the Asian nation. American viewed the movement as a successful one, but for the Koreans, it was a significant loss because they were still divided ( Goldfield, 2017).
