I intend to show up at the center as required and will ensure that this week I help someone in any capacity whether patients or staff. I would love to put a smile on someone’s face. Communication is a key aspect; I am hoping to learn to listen more and participate in more discussions with senior staff to gain insights from them.
Following last week’s visit by DOH and their recommendations on prevention procedures within the center; I intend to lend my hand to the center to enhance compliance since DOH might pay a visit this week. I am making good progress with my preceptor; hopefully this week we will get to work more together, learn from her, and help where I can as much as possible.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
The week was a great success; I am happy to report that I didn’t experience any hiccup that warrants your attention. However, I noticed that members of staff are reluctant in adhering to PPE’s rules and ensuring of their safety especially with patients in memory loss units who refuse to put on masks. My efforts to ensure adherence to DOH’s recommendations on compliance with CDC’s guidelines paid off when they made an impromptu visit and found the center having followed up on their recommendations and compliance to CDC guidelines altogether. I am elated to report that I helped my preceptor with new electronic health records software as she was new to it. We learned together how to navigate and it was so fulfilling in the end when I saw the joy on her face, having learned the basics about the software.
The team was taken through a psychotropic drug regimen of each resident to determine appropriate measures in managing psychotropic patients. Gradual Dose Reduction (GDR) initiatives were introduced in psychotropics as the appropriate measure. GDR is more essential to geriatric residents who are susceptible to detrimental side effects involved in psychotropic medication (Tjia, et al., 2015). I had the opportunity to learn GDR guidelines and behavioral interventions used in an effort to discontinue the use of psychotropic drugs.
