The RN-BSN program has positively changed my feelings about my skills and knowledge in nursing practice. Through the RN-BSN program, I have learned the skill of being a better critical thinker, which is vital in the current healthcare dynamics, where disease processes are becoming consistently complex. Solid critical thinking skills are vital in nursing care (Anbari, 2015) since, as a nurse, I need to analyze patients and as well apply care standards in a hectic and demanding environment. The RN-BSN program heavily focuses on evidence-based care, which has significantly assisted me in the development of better practice and consequently improved the quality of care provided to patients.
The experiences acquired by completing this course are a stepping-stone for me to be able to handle challenging situations in healthcare. In addition to this, the RN-BSN program is a path towards increased opportunities for furthering my career. It creates an opportunity for job diversification since the programs incorporate diverse areas that affect healthcare, including healthcare policy, principles of system thinking, and leadership models (Asiimwe, Muwema, & Drake, 2019).

In my journey of becoming a baccalaureate-prepared nurse, I have participated in various programs designed to reduce hospital-acquired infections, through the application of theoretical knowledge. One of my professional goals has been to be able to utilize theories and information in nursing research, to deliver evidence-based care that improves the outcome of patients. Achieving this goal meant that I had to commit to life-long learning, which I have been achieving through attending conferences, obtaining certifications, taking courses, and reading trade journals like the Nurse Management Magazine, Minority Nurse Magazine, and American Journal of Nursing. Joining organizations such as the American Nurses Association has impacted my educational journey immensely as it is through these organizations that I have been able to attend conferences that help me improve my knowledge –base.
