Obeying parents is acceptable behavior. In most homes, the statement is often heard by children as they grow up. Even at an older age, parents are respected and obeyed by their children. However, in a home setting, obedience can lead to the rise of many questions. My entire life, I have desired to venture into Music, but my parents have always said that nursing was the best profession for me. Here I am now, having finished High school and excelled. I have the desire to follow my musical career, but my family is against it. Does it mean that disobeying my parents and following my dream is a bad thing? I wonder whether obeying them will be a good thing even though it will let me forego my dream.

The choice to make in such a situation is very critical since its consequences affect my family. The act of disobedience to parents is bad in society as it diverts from the rules and traditions created at home. However, how good is a career if it does not please the pursuer? The choice or decision I make in this context raises the question of whether good means that it benefits an individual or it does not matter who helps to follow a specific choice viewed as good ( Reiter & Orthaber 2018) . However, I believe that as an individual, my moral maturity examines my ability to make the right choices and determine what is good. Other people in my situation would choose to follow obedience as it is in line with the strategic choices that help maintain a particular order. I know that disobeying my parents will be a bad decision since it will create disorder at home, but I believe that following my dream career is a good decision as well. Therefore, how good a choice is, differs according to individuals’ preferences and perceptions.
