The goals of speaking publicly; include expressing thoughts and changing audiences' actions, emotions, and attitudes, in which listeners are affected by the meaning of the words. Stage fright and nervousness is a common occurrence, which negatively affects the process of conveying the message. The best strategy I apply to overcome stage fright is choosing a familiar topic, which I clearly understand and am confident about the information accuracy (Straughn, n.d.). Persuasion by Aristotle consists of three basic parts, ethos, which is concerned about the speaker's credibility, logos, logic in the conclusion, and pathos, the speaker's ability to create a connection with the audience (Nikitina, 2011). Therefore, by choosing a familiar topic, I have the knowledge and authority, which grants me the courage to communicate effectively (Studer et al., 2011). Additionally, I can logically convey the information and capture the audience's attention by establishing an emotional connection.
Hello Student name ,
It is exciting how you overcome stage fright by simply developing a strong introduction and conclusion. Your idea of developing a good introduction that is followed by enough reasoning is superb. It is important that you have explained that even with a good introduction and conclusion you also experience stage fright. Therefore, it would be helpful to choose a familiar topic in which you could reason more effectively guiding your speech smoothly. I would also wish to ask whether, in the process of preparation, you highlight some points to guide your speech. Apart from that, it is commendable that you understand yourself well and you have devised a variety of ways to minimize stage fright, including constantly breathing and relaxing. I am also nervous around new people but by choosing a familiar topic, and constantly focusing on accurate information I communicate accurately to my audience.
