Goetsch and Davis (2014) noted that an organizational needs analysis provides a platform for a business to assess and compare the current skills it possesses and the future skills it needs to achieve its unmet objectives. It further highlights the gaps in expertise thus enabling the company to emphasize on its training and recruitment program. The company has a vision summarized in its motto which states: "Whole Foods, Whole People, and Whole Planet." Therefore, the company stresses the fact that it is more than just a retailer but rather a team member seeking to emphasize excellence and happiness. Its mission also emphasizes quality, excellence, and high standards all which depend on the services provided by the employees across its branches worldwide. 

It is in this regard that the company focuses on training and personal development as part of its core values towards its employees. Learning and training are fundamental parts of the capacity building in the organization. "Each region in our company has a regional trainer who is responsible for overseeing the orientation and training of all new and existing Whole Foods Market team members” (Whole Foods Market ). The website further notes that the stores have what is referred to as the in-store educators with team trainers all aimed at ensuring personal development becomes a priority. Furthermore, an online platform known as “Whole Foods Market University” (WFM-U) provides members with knowledge and information regarding various topics (Whole Foods Market).

Training is an essential part of the company. In emphasizing the importance, Whole Food Market has set aside budgets for ensuring the furtherance of performance and job skills. According to the website, some of the aspects that the company uses in achieving this include providing classes, magazine subscriptions, and trade shows amongst others. Therefore, these show the extent to which the company has gone to ensure that it fills all the available gaps in meeting future objectives.
