According to the functionalism, each part of the society has a contribution or a role it plays which contribute to the direct success of the whole society. The society has parts which are interdependence to make it one unites. The emphasis of the theory is that each of the components of the society cannot work alone. It means that in case one component fails to perform; others have to stretch beyond their limits to cover the part. This component has not done much to make the Indian rural society stable. Its inadequacy in the role performance has brought poverty in the land with a lot of suffering and struggle for life. It is the role of the government to ensure that the population is educated on issues which affect their health, and program which ensure that they participate in controlling the population to help in the betterment of their life. The government of the Indian has failed to perform this role which as shown in the documentary leads to suffering of the individual in the villages. According to the functionalism theory perspective, the stability of the society is based on the uniform functionality of the components of the society. It further suggests that in case one component fails the community struggle. An educated population knows the benefits of the birth control programs. Also, such individual knows the number of the children their families can afford to take care of comfortably. It means that such family cannot languish in poverty. It is evident that education as a major component of the society lacks in the documentary and its effect is being felt like a wave. Lack of education has brought in the instability that has made the population suffer. For instance, a major part of the population especially women are not educated hence have littler knowledge on birth control issues. This has to lead to poverty due to the number children they give raise.
Last on the list is the economy.
