The campaign slogan used by Wilson was “He kelp us out of the war.” However, Wilson did not favor his campaign slogan, and he even became pro-war believing that it was the only method he could use to protect the people of America. When Wilson asked Congress to declare war on German, he indicated that it was the approach that would improve the safety in the world and that would support democracy. Wilson believed that defeating the Axis power would make the United States and its allies establish would piece. After the First World War, Wilson negotiated a peace treaty including the League of Nations plan and that made Wilson win the Nobel Price due to his efforts of establishing peace. Wilson was right to change his campaign slogan as it would be hard to keep the Americans out of the war, yet other nations such as Germany were looking to take control of the world (Kennedy, 2009). Through war, he helped in making peace treaties.
The Civil War is similar to the situation of Wilson leading the Americans to war. The activists led the African Americans on war against white Americans. It was a way of establishing their presence and being part of American society. Though the war resulted in the deaths of many people, it was able to achieve the black Americans a position in American society. After the war, lots of reforms were made in the political, social and economic lives of the black Americans, the children started attending school, the Africa Americans were able to secure job, and political representation was seen. The Civil War paid off for the black Americans as they are now recognized as American citizens, fight for any chances available equally with white Americans.
