I see your post firstly addresses the challenges Army Reservists face in performing their tasks. According to your post, geographical distances are the main challenges to mission commands and recruiting efforts to fill different formations. You further indicate that numerous Army Reservists join units near their homes to serve their country without relocating and not all units afford promotion opportunities for fear of having to transfer units upon promotion. I totally agree with you because you elaborate the various challenges that the Army Reservists face in a precise and succinct manner.

Apart from outlining the challenges that Army Reservists face, it is significant to motivate soldiers to go back to class for another military occupational specialty within their unit. I believe returning to class develops soldiers' profession as well as shows board members the adaptability of soldiers' skillset ( Department of the Army, 2014) . The various opportunities they can undertake include instructor, Observer, Coach, and Drill Sergeant. It is therefore important to create a good working relationship with these people to help in filling unit vacancies.

What stands out in this post is the talent management part. I believe, mentoring soldiers is important because it develops the profession of soldiers for the betterment of the Army. The Army can only have a ready, professional, and dynamic workforce when it employs, retains, and develops its workforce. Apart from developing a ready and professional workforce, the Army needs to implement various strategies to close the gaps that exist in areas such as employee engagement, training of employees as well as organizational adaptability.

As much as this post demonstrates challenges faced by Army Reservists, it lacks strategies that provide solutions to these challenges. The Army should consider hiring employees from a broad pool of applicants that include veterans and returnees to the workforce and further hire people that fit the culture of the organization to develop a strong workforce.
