Suggest two policies that you think employers could institute that would best promote work-life balance among their employees. Be sure to explain why you think these policies would help

Flextime: flexible work arrangements help employees manage their work time, family time, study time and all the other time needs that they may have. When employers offer these flexible work arrangements, the workers are less stressed and they work at the time that best suits them. Moreover, when an employee is allowed to have an own schedule, they easily put in more time and take more ownership of their jobs.

Annualized hours: Under this option, the employers would allow workers to organize their work hours per year as opposed to per week. The method helps the employer predict the peaks and low seasons of the work, helping them assign shorter hours during the troughs. The shorter hours help the workers manage their own affairs outside the office more easily.

Would all employees benefit from these policies or just certain types of employees?

Some employees may prefer the old working hours, although not all may benefit from the flextime and annualized hours (Korgen,Korgen, & Giraffe, 2015). However, the people with families and those who study in some seasons would largely benefit from the arrangement as they would manage their own time outside the normal working hours.

Once these policies are instituted in the workplace, what role does workplace culture play in whether or not employees take advantage of them?

The workplace culture plays a role in ensuring that the workers utilize the flexible working methods. Case in point, if the company culture allows workers to work at night, some of the employees may opt for the night options while engaging in their own activities during the day. On the contrary, if the organizational culture is not flexible enough, it may limit the workers from enjoying the full benefit of the arrangements. Moreover, the core values in the organizational culture also make workers accountable to the employers even when working outside the normal schedule.

What effect would these policies promoting work-life balance have on workplace productivity?

The flexible work arrangement policies promote productivity because the employees who take advantage of the options are more motivated towards their duty accomplishment. The freedom gives them ownership of their jobs and makes them put more than they would in the ordinary situations (SHRM ,2017). Moreover, most workers also have less stress when the flexibility is implemented, making them more productive.
