Since the advent of technology, new technologies have consistently emerged year after year, changing the working environment, both in blue-collar settings and white color settings. Many technologies have influenced the workplace enormously, but this discussion focuses on 4 of the most influential technologies that were introduced in the last 25 years. The timeline bellows shown the invention of the introduction of the 4 innovations.

Part 2

These technologies are linked and have, in a different way, built on the success of previous technologies. When broadband technology was introduced in 1997, it revolutionized the workspace. The broadband was a better alternative to the landline, and the landline is gradually becoming a historical relic. People installed broadband in their offices and homes (Realish, n.d.). The broadband expanded the work area beyond the office. With broadband people no longer required to work from a central area; they could work from any remote location include their homes provided they had broadband. The technology improved agility and flexibility as well as reducing additional costs associated with the landline.

The Wi-Fi took broadband to another level. Wi-Fi allowed user to access the internet at broadband speed wirelessly. People can access the internet anywhere anytime (Emanuelli, 2017). Wi-Fi host spots become available in cities, residential blocks, and office blocks. The ability to access the internet without cable connectivity further expanded the workspace, ensuring that people no longer needed to be locked in the same space or region to collaborate on projects.

Cloud-Based SaaS IWMS invention in 2002 improved the ability of people to use different software without having to install them in their devices fully. SaaS is a distribution model used to distribute software. A third-party provider hosts applications and avails to users who use them online. The software also becomes affordable since companies do not have fully software and install it on their computers. They pay for the services flexibly, for instance, monthly. The services are scalable since they hosted on the cloud, and users also benefit from automatic updates, which reduce their maintenance costs (Rouse, n.d.) Since the services are delivered over the internet they are accessible any time from an internet enabled device. SaaS IWMS enhanced employee engagement and agility to the modern rapid workplace change thus ensuring workplace leaders to remain competitive.

The iPhone introduction in 2007 substantial changed the way people communicated and improve their ability to use internet resources. Although smart devices had been introduced earlier, the iPhone sparked off the start of the smartphone revolution (Hayes, 2018). Being internet enable meant the users of these devices could easily use the internet anytime provided they have access to broadband and Wi-Fi. Smartphones also revolution services such as video calls and conference calls, as well are reduced the costs associated with them.

In conclusion, these technologies have continued to evolve since their introduction. They are becoming more sophisticated by day and continuing to shape people work environments. They converged together and continue influence how users use each one of them.
