Depression is a state of unhappiness in individuals, the state of depression in individuals alters the behaviors, physical and emotional state of a person. Therefore, the state of depression is unhealthy for individuals. Research has shown that there is an increase in depression among teenagers. Recently, there has been an increased number of suicides among teens, deterioration of grades in schools, and crime involvement. However, bad parenting, abuse, family conflicts, and drug influence cause increased depression. The paper expounds on the causes and impacts of teen depression.

Also, lousy parenting has contributed to depression among teens in that parenting plays a significant role in establishing healthy development among teens. Experiencing practices such as divorce and excessive alcohol consumption among the parents interfere with the children's psychological status, thus causing depression (Kroning & Kroning, 2016).
Drug influence is another factor causing depression among teens. Drug influence impairs the brain's normal cognitive functions, thus causing depression as they only make individuals feel better instead of solving the problems they are facing (Kroning & Kroning, 2016).
Depression has many impacts on teens. For example, suicide. The number of suicide cases among the youths has increased, thus worrying parents and guardians. The increased suicide cases have grown due to the increased depression among the children, which has interfered with their psychological status, impairing their judgment. As teenagers are undergoing depression, they face the most challenging time; thus, they require individuals who will guide and advise them during this challenging period; however, lacking individuals to advise and guide them makes them commit suicide (Kroning & Kroning, 2016).
Depression has affected the academic grades of many individuals. When individuals are undergoing psychological issues, their cognitive abilities are concerned, affecting individual grades in classes. For example, when individuals have depression, their concentration level is affected; therefore, they are lost in their thoughts, thus reducing their ability to perform well in the exams (Kroning & Kroning, 2016).
Furthermore, depression has made teens engage in crime. When individuals are depressed, their decision-making ability is impaired; therefore, committing a crime doesn't seem like a big deal. Therefore, teenagers engage in gang-related groups that commit crime and traffic drugs to make a living, as this is the only thing that makes them feel satisfied (Kroning & Kroning, 2016).
Like any other psychological issue teenage depression has, a remedy in that guidance and counseling should be offered to teens as they are growing old to psychologically overcome depression. Moreover, guiding teens makes them realize that depression is normal, and after a series of psychotherapy sessions, individuals can overcome the state of depression (Kroning & Kroning, 2016). In conclusion, teenage depression is becoming an area of concern; therefore, parents and guardians should offer counsel to their kids, thus overcoming the situation when faced with one.
