One take away from “The Will of God as a Way of Life: How to Make Every Decision with Peace and Confidence” by Jerry Sittser concerns how we should always live discerning the Lord in the present more than in the future (2004). It is through our actions that the will of God manifests, and they concern the present more than the future. Notably, the focus is on the decisions that we make every day more than the future; thus, the only we that we can know God’s way is living in the present moment. For this reason, we are to love God with all of our hearts, soul, mind, and strength. Similarly, we should love our neighbors, in the same manner, we love our selves for this are the challenges that Christ pays attention to.
I inform clients who have work-related issues that one of the best ways to stress of their lives is through walking with God. This is aligned with the fact that if they are interested in knowing God’s plan for their life, they ought to learn to walk with God through developing a strong relationship. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6, NKJV). This will help in wading away all the uncertainties and the pressures that emanate from work. Similarly, the Bible warns about anxiety and presumption regarding the future. God assures us that he is in charge of our lives, and the best fruits are born by living as per his commands. Thus, the client should put God first through consistently following his ways and discerning him.
