Harmony describes the belonging of one thing with another that is sameness. Design is the way something appears. These elements can be seen in different types of art. Mary Cassatt in Mother and Child 2 art uses harmony through the warm colors she has applied n the woman. The mixture of yellow and light green makes the mother appear elegant. The Mother and Child 2 also illustrate unity. The way the woman is holding the child is an indication of love and bond between the two as she holds a mirror for the child to look at herself. The geometric shape of the image shows reflection as the mother and the child appears to be sited in a place where their images are reflected by a mirror. Variety is seen by the poor reflection of the child on the mirror on the wall, the large yellow flower on the dress and the naked child.
