I agree with the idea that a leader's fear is caused by the understanding that effective leadership results which emanate from commitment and compliance. I feel that the argument of the author assumes that leadership power should be democratically exercised. However, some types of leadership, such as totalitarian authorities, can force subjects to comply with guidance even without the consent or commitment to the authority (Vassigh, 2018). It is justifiable to argue that the combination of positional and personal is essential in influencing subjects of specific authority. I strongly feel that a perfect blend in personal and positional powers creates control and loyalty over subjects.

Though it is justifiable to claim that exposing subordinates to environments that allow them to express initiatives is a form making the subordinates to feel secure and empower, I also feel that such an action might affect the application of power over the subordinates. Allowing subjects to make initiatives is risky depending on the nature of subordinates, their compliance, commitment, and loyalty to the authority (Vassigh, 2018). The justification, in my opinion, is that allowing private initiatives in a country where subjects are not loyal or committed to the authority could result in uprisings and subsequent loss of power.

I agree with the author's claim that influence is a force multiplier and a credible tool in accomplishing the mission and welfare of soldiers. However, I feel that a negative impact in the military could be a recipe for ineffectiveness in military expeditions (Vassigh, 2018). I strongly feel that positive influence should come from the right source, and it should focus on influencing subordinates or soldiers to purse the justly accepted course. Otherwise, a negative impact could jeopardize the articulation of certain intended missions or could lead to loss of power and control.
