ABA Intervention: What You Need to Know

Delivering ABA services among children can be accompanied by various challenges. This is evident especially, in a home or community set up of delivering ABA services. One of the most significant challenges is the issue of family dynamics. Although families may have significant roles in influencing variables related to intervention, they may limit the abilities of caregivers in delivering their services. Another significant problem is the factor of establishing a dual relationship. In most instances, interventionists are more exposed to the issues of the respective family, distracting the primary objectives which would be different from a clinical-based model.

Maintaining the levels of confidentiality is an ethical challenge when delivering ABA services in a home setting. This is one of the most significant challenges that would be different if ABA services would be administered in a clinical setting. This may lead to unauthorized persons accessing the most critical information about the patient.

Question 2

Given this case, I would consider triaging a more practical setting. Inpatient setting is very efficient under this case because it provides some advantages to both the patient and the interventionist. Inpatient setting incorporates vital issues such as ethical considerations and the general needs of the patients. Inpatient setting will ensure that the patient is given enough attention, while at the same time allowing the supervisors and care providers to maintain high standards of confidentiality without much distraction. Inpatient setting will also enable high intervention for the minimization of aggressiveness on the child.

Question 3

Under this case, I will consider antecedent analysis for effective intervention. This is because an antecedent analysis will provide an opportunity for the evaluation of the environment and also offer a chance for the consideration of highly preferred activities to increase interest. Incorporation of structured descriptive assessment (SDA) will be ideal by ensuring that it identifies various antecedent factors leading to operative intervention. Thus, it will target behaviors like aggression, crying, property destruction, and tantrums.
