As noted by Comer, abnormal behavior entails behavior that differs significantly and markedly from the societal ideas of the proper functioning. Conversely, normal behavior encompasses the norms and ideologies of the proper functioning of persons influenced by a myriad of factors. As part of the abnormality behavior, Comer recognizes the existence of the vital four Ds of dysfunction, distress as well as deviance and cases of dangerousness.

In essence, normal behaviors are characterized by the proper functioning of the person, having minimal distress (D), zero or minimal deviance (D) in society as well as no dangerous (D) behavior which are harmful to oneself or others. Essentially, as noted by Comer, each society provides key social norms and guidelines that shape and measure normalcy. Hence, examples of normal behavior are including keeping hygiene, having cognitive learning ability, having friends, being ambitious and responsible etc. On the other hand, abnormal behavior is characterized by high dysfunctional behavioral feelings interfering with standard daily functioning as well as exhibits heightened distress (D) to oneself or others. To a key extent, I agree with the definitions especially as explained by Comer in addition to the vital overemphasis using the four Ds. Notably, with society accustomed to specific norms and behaviors, it is apparent that the skewing from the standard gets viewed as abnormal. Also, just as said by Comer, there is a sense of diversity in cultural norms in society. In the same way, persons may suffer distinct risks leading to abnormal behaviors, e.g., distress or dysfunctions. With these examples and definitions, there is credibility and relevance.
