Ad hoc categories can either result from specialized or spontaneous contexts. In this case, the ad hoc category arises from either spontaneous or specialized context with the aim of achieving a goal relevant in the prevailing scenario. In the event that I found myself stranded on a desert island, I would construct and assign the different tools to various ad hoc categories. These tools include a metal chair, an acoustic guitar, expensive jewelry, collection of paperback books as well as a flashlight lacking batteries. For the metal chair, the ideal category would be merchandise, instruments role of buy for the acoustic guitar, payment name the agent for the expensive jewelry, theme for the collection of paperback books and recipient for the flashlight lacking batteries. Pursuing the ad hoc goals would need constant instantiation as well as specification of roles necessary for achieving the goals.

The WAIS test usually assesses the performance as well as verbal abilities. Normally, the person taking the test usually scores in the same range on both halves. However, a person can have substantially different scores on the two halves. In this case, the person may record either higher score in verbal IQ or performance IQ or the reverse. When this is the case, the full scale IQ should be interpreted with a lot of caution as it could be an indication of brain damage since the test is applied to make inferences about pathology as well as personality. In this case, the test is used in neuropsychological evaluation. The person administering the test should have proper training as well as clear understanding of test guidelines for credible results.
