In Food and Nutrition Services department, borrowing for part-time off is not considered as a breach of employee’s act. But again, senior managers and supervisors are not supposed to borrow from their juniors anything including part-time off. As the company stipulates, this would avoid placing staff members in untenable positions if they refuse to lend the money, or even put pressure on them as they make effort to retain the money they lent. In this case, it is considered unethical for Anderson to email junior staffs asking for their PTO, given that he had already wasted his time while running unnecessary errands. 

According to Healing Hand rehabilitation, an employee is entitled to a maximum of 20 hours of PTO in a month, this translates to 240 hours in a year. This time includes vacations, combined sick leave, bereavement time and personal days. So Anderson had exhausted all these hours. It thereof becomes unethical for him to ask for extra time, leave alone asking from junior employees. According to Reason (2016), to an organization’s rules and regulations must be adhered to fully, irrespective of someone’s position. Contrary to this, the organization risks making losses that could be a threat to its existence.

Annabeth Jackson has exhibited a great concern for ethics. Despite all the happenings, she has not dismissed Anderson. The warning she has given are enough for dismissal. She has cautioned Anderson a number of times but to no avail. To some extent, Anderson has failed as a senior officer in her way of passing information through the verbal warning. In many organizations, it is unethical to make communication of serious matters, such as concerns in employees conduct through verbatim (Armenakis et al., 2011).
