Power included violence because many people today are interested in watching films with violence since they are interesting. Incorporating violence scenes in the show was a way of attracting the masses and viewers to look at the show. Another reason is that displaying violent scenes in the movie industry has become a bonus for films. This is because it makes shows interesting. Power included violence in its episode to make it more captivating to its audience.

Media violence causes desensitization in people whereby individuals accept violence in real life after watching a lot of violence in the media. For instance, after seeing sexually violent movies, people show less empathy to violence victims, and they tend to blame them for being responsible for their abuse (Barbara Krahé, 2011). Violent media also makes people develop positive attitudes towards aggression and violence. As a result, individuals who watch violent movies tend to show patterns of aggressive behavior.

In conclusion, the media portrays a lot of violence today. The show Power is well known for its violent scenes in an attempt to attract its viewers and to make the show more appealing to the audience. However, violence that is depicted in the media leads to desensitization in individuals. People lack empathy because of watching violent films.
