According to Mann & Roberts (2013), American rule states that each party should pay its own lawyer's fee regardless if one party loses or not. English rule on the other hand states that if one party loses in a lawsuit should pay the other parties' attorney’s fee. In this case, the American rule seems to be fair since both parties have to pay their own lawyer’s fees considering that both incurred some expenses while preparing for the case whether they lost or not. It is sometimes cheaper to settle a legal dispute because some agreements are legally binding which can result to paying a fee, which acts as a compensation for the party in question. Alternative Dispute Resolution is effective when used in this situation since it is a cheaper method and both parties are assured of mutual benefit.

Previously, I had lent one of my friends, my research book to use it to prepare for the exams. Later the book was misplaced and no one realized that. When I needed the book back the person I gave realized the book was missing and had no idea where it was. I was very furious since it was already exam time and had no idea what to do next. We searched for all the places the book could have been left and asking our fellow classmates if they come across that book. The book was not found and he ended up buying for me another book.
