United States is a superpower country equipped with heavy war artillery and modern technology which gives it a privilege over other dominions in the world. It has showed its power by dominating victory over its rivals both domestically and internationally. The superiority was also evident from the past when the country was involved in the world wars since its independence from Britain. The country is known for its guidelines and realistic military battles in war torn parts of the world to bring peace, tranquility and security to the oppressed minority thus adopting its world policing objective (Kevin, 2018). The American “policing” role has been exercised primarily to protect vulnerable peoples and regions from powerful oppressors or from regional chaos, as illustrated by recent events as well as earlier ones.
Cold war started after the Second World War from the early 1950s after America and USSR or Soviet Union were considered the world’s super powers. The two countries had different ideas on governance and economic development. They engaged in war of ideas and opinions where Americans were capitalists while Soviet Union were communists. Capitalism ensured that people and business controlled production of goods and services and had the right to decide where to live and work. In communism, Government was in charge of all resources and production activities as well as determined where people lived. The two countries ended in proxy wars after a series of competition of sphere of influence over each other. Proxy wars in the mid-1950s included Vietnam War, Korea, Greek and Afghanistan among many others in other parts of the world (Paul, 2008). The two states avoided direct combat against each other since it would have led to dangerous nuclear war thus used their supporters to fight each other in the whole cold war period. Finally cold war came to an end abruptly with the collapse of USSR hence giving USA indirect victory against Soviet Union and its communism.

Paul (2008) asserted that United States has responded in various parts of the world by giving humanitarian assistance to defend against misery of innocent people in the event of war, terrorism, and natural disasters. It has policed the world to ensure harmony and peace by helping diverse regions with military support to prevent oppression of citizens from dictatorship regimes. Examples of such countries are Iraq, Libya, Iran and Syria. In Iraq, American President George Bush called for Gulf War to evict Iraq from Kuwait labeling Sadam Hussein as a ‘villain’ and Kuwait as a ‘victim’ in 1991 (Bush, 1991). Iraq attacked Kuwait after accusing it of stealing petroleum and the disputed debt of Iraq- Iran war. Hussein was ordered to withdraw his army from Kuwait but refused. USA sent military intervention in what is known as Persian Gulf War. Later in 2003, the country was invaded by US forces as a result of Saddam Hussein’s alleged development of destructive weapons and a direct link of involvement with terrorists’ organizations such as Al-Qaeda which contributed to September 11 attack in New York City (Tarzi, 2014). The terrorist groups posed a threat to the world as Iraq wanted to manufacture nuclear weapons to revenge against US and suppress her allies like Israel.
Attack in Libya by US in 2011 was meant to protect civilians from the cruel attacks of Gaddafi army and end his dictatorial regime that oppressed Libyan citizens. Paul (2008) noted that US military intervention in Syria in 2017 was in response to civilian attack with chemical weapons as the Syrian government tried to recapture the rebel held eastern Ghouta suburb. Therefore, the opposing view that America is not a world policeman is not convincing enough. All these activities the country engaged itself in are an indication that USA acts as world’s policeman which has a superpower to control, prevent, and topple dictatorial regimes in other countries. Likewise its powerful ammunition enables it hold unmanned air strikes against her enemies thus suppressing the war torn regions in the world.
The American ability to resolve disputes and act with a policing authority to other parts of the world can positively shape individuals in the workplace. They can achieve this by acting as a mediator to solve disagreement when conflicts arise in the workplace or act as intermediary between two conflicting organizations. Conclusively, United States has policed the world to promote peaceful cohesion and coexistence by assisting affected countries in war through military aid solve feuds and prevent further oppression of minority groups.
