Animal abuse can also be referred to as animals neglect or cruelty on animals. Animal abuse can take a number of forms, which includes violence acts that may be intentional as well as overt towards animals. Also, failing to provide and tend to the needs of an animal can also be referred to as animal abuse. Also, causing psychological harm towards an animal through terror or torment, and distress among others can also be described as animal abuse. Due to this animals are usually protected by the state thus ensuring that they are in any way exposed to abuse of any form; despite this animal abuse is still there. Throughout the years of the existence of humanity, animals' roles can be considered as a contributing factor of today's greatly shaped culture of humans. Ever since the beginning of time animals have existed as a part of the human society. Animal abuse is not a new thing because it has existed ever since.

Animal abuse simply started long ago before the 18th century. In December the year 1641, in the colonial record of America, documented the animal protection agency. This was when the General Court of Massachusetts decided to enact a comprehensive legal code putting into perspective animal issues (Davis, 2017). By 1800, many societies specializing in the protection and prevention of animals' abuse had been established across the America. Despite this, the organizations still failed because they lacked one voice. After four years, 27 delegates from 27 organizations came together and joined forces. They founded the American Humane (American Humane, 2017). After the founding of this association, their first task was to end the abuse of farm animals which were being mistreated and had unconducive shelters.

Since the creation of the organization in 1877, the animals have been provided safe havens. This organization is dedicated to serve and ensure that the animals are not exposed to any abuse. Besides, the organization protects not only animals but also children (American Humane, 2017). The mission of this organization dictates its roles in the animal society. Its mission is;

"As a network of individuals and organizations, is to prevent cruelty, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children and animals and to assure that their interests and well-being are full, effectively, and humanely guaranteed by an aware and caring society" (American Humane, 2017).

Other organization protecting animals came in with some like PETA transforming the animal world. The transformation resulted in the biggest ever formed organization advocating for animals safety in the world. This organization was formed in the year 1980. This organization has a simple principle which states, "Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment.” PETA also the public and policy makers regarding animal abuse thus promoting kind treatment towards animals (PETA, 2017).

There are some facts about animal abuse which are discouraging and mock Mother Nature. It is a fact that every year, for the sake of getting fur, there are "one billion rabbits" killed (Brooks, 2016). Another thing is that cosmetic manufacturers use animals in the testing of their products. It has been estimated that there are "at least 115 million animals" that are being used every year for experiment throughout the world (Brooks, 2016). Also considering animals used for the sake of entertainment, circus, they are always caged spending at least 96% of their time on a chain or locked up in cages (Margulis, 2016). More so, these animals used in the circus are usually deprived of accessing water and food until have completed performing (Margulis, 2016).

Animals have always been a part of the human society, and thus humans have exploited them for different purposes. As a result, people have abused animals for millenniums. Despite the recognition of animals right and steps towards protecting animals, still, animals are being violated and abused by the very people who domesticate them. Those in the wild art poached and hunted for sport. Many undergo torture in the name of entertainment and experiments. They are denied their freedom since they spend lots of time caged or in chains. It is important to uphold animal rights and end all the cruelty towards all animals.
