Firstly, I would start education programs in which relevant information concerning antibiotics and resistance will be incorporated. This education will be meant for all members of the society including: the educated such as the teachers and family members (children and parents) among other. The doctors too should be trained on how to effectively undertake patient counseling for better patient-doctor interaction (Mohebbi, et al, 2018). The education would focus on appropriate use of antibiotics and/or misuse.

Information concerning use and misuse of antibiotics should be spread across all levels of society by use of posters, billboards slogans, television, newspapers- a campaign similar to that applied in creating awareness on polio (Mohebbi, et al, 2018). At the same time, there should be a toll-free number for anybody wiling to consult on appropriate use of an antibiotics. I would also encourage patients to be more consultative, to their doctors, on the appropriate use of their medicines. Antibiotics should also contain labels alerting patients on their use and misuse, for instance, use of a statement: “overuse and under use of antibiotics is hazardous” (Mohebbi, et al, 2018). Also, different colors should be used in marking antibiotics to differentiate them from other drugs (this would also help the patients to know that they are using antibiotics).

The awareness could also comprise the need to read prescriptions on the strip or bottle cover to be in a position to understand why and what one is taking. Awareness on the different causes of diseases would also help in minimizing misuse of antibiotics. According to, (Mohebbi and others (2018),“The difference between viral and bacterial infection in laymen's language, could raise awareness and reduce misuse of antibiotics… since in these conditions there is unnecessary consumption of antibiotics by all” (Mohebbi, et al, 2018).
