Java is the most common object-oriented programming language. James Gosling created Java in 1991 at Sun Microsystems (Erbschole, 2014). During this time, the Green Team used Java language to develop a simple, interactive, portable home-entertainment device controller. The device was meant to help the users to control programming in their digital televisions. Since the digital cable TV was still at infant stages, it could not embrace the new technology fully. In 1995, Java programming language (JPL) was to develop Netscape Navigator Internet browser. Ever since this time, people have utilized Java in developing their websites. According to Erbschole, (2014), Java has unique features that make it appropriate for developing business applications. Most of these functions are twined to the goals of developing the program. These include security, portability reliability and productivity (Bertolli, 2005). 

Features that Make JPL Suitable for Business Applications

Java has known for many unique features. Nonetheless, one of the most outstanding features is portability and the common interface created via the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) (Javatpoint.com, 2017). The JVM works as a high-level and independent machine that is self-contained. Notably, the JVM utilizes software which permits the applications written in the Java to act as a separate computer. Apparently, this allows programmers to segregate Java-oriented applications thereby helping to prevent system corruption. Additionally, it enables the developers to create stable security systems (Erbschole, 2014). With this feature, computers can create more advanced apps. The JVM usually executes internal instructions that carry out most of the works hence effecting this functions. Portability is the primary merit of Java. The JVM can operate many computer systems without necessarily reprogramming all the computers. Besides, JVM is an open standard programming language (Erbschole, 2014). That implies that no organization exhibits control over the creation of Java. Companies such as eBay utilized this feature to develop e-commerce platform. The organization used Java to develop and support Skype, eBay marketplaces and PayPal among others.

Another key feature of Java is animation and interactivity. Notably, many programmers have used JPL to develop functions animated and interactive features. Initially, many functions of Java were limited to World Wide Web. Nevertheless, as java continued to mature, programmers have established other uses of Java, and that has made it widespread. One of the features that have made Java grow tremendously is the use of object-oriented language (Javatpoint.com, 2017). These include the use of C++. Notably, the use of objects has increased the efficiency of developing programs. It has significantly reduced the time needed to develop complex programs. A report by Bertolli, (2005) cited that the Star office of the Sun Microsystems was written in object language (C++).

Java in Businesses

Typically, business applications ought to manage to create reports in different and elaborate formats. They also need to present data in ways that are understandable. Furthermore, the applications should describe and sort character data and decimal numbers. For the applications to have such capabilities, they need to be created with a language that offers them some form of portability. In this regards, the portability feature of the JPL provides businesses with a way of developing such applications. With the Java’s portability feature, companies can create applications that are distributed across various platforms (Bertolli, 2005).

Java can also be used to connect remote databases because it can work securely across networks. Moreover, the auto-memory management allows Java to be used in creating applications that can allocate as well as deallocate significant amounts of memory. In that respect, it allows programmers to focus on other elements in the program. Of essence, Java can load and display information in the database using the system memory because the objects in Java are located on the heap (Bertolli, 2005). The prolonged compile-time checking is key to ensuring that errors are prevented, and the operation of the interface is proper. 

The Future of Java within the Business Context

Presently, Java has established itself as a popular programming language. The same trend will continue in the next half decade. Notably, the fact that Java is the leading programming language implies that it has many developers, it has discovered many developments, and it is the largest language used to develop applications globally. At the moment, nothing is indicating that this trend is likely to decline over the next decade. Typically, Java has its drawbacks. However, it has managed to remain as the most reliable language for creating corporate applications. 

Also, Java has an extensive corporate backing. Since its inception, Java has shown tremendous growth such that large corporations are supporting it. Companies that have embraced this language in developing their corporate applications include IBM, Google, Apache Software Federation, and Oracle among others (Erbschloe, 2014). Moreover, media and banks have extensively used Java in developing their applications. Apparently, this is a clear indication that Java will continue to dominate when it comes to programming languages.

In conclusion, Java is one of the robust programming languages in the current world. It has the most appealing features that appeal to businesses and other fields. As this paper has indicated, the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) makes the language to be portable. Apparently, this implies that the language can be used to develop many applications within a computer that work independently. Besides, the language is object-oriented since it utilizes C++ in developing programs. These help in increasing interactivity as well as the time needed to develop complex programs. Java has realized tremendous developments. Thus, it is likely to remain relevant over the next half a decade.
