The biological approach to Psychology stipulates that people are a result of genetics and physiology. Besides, this psychological approach scrutinizes the behaviors, thoughts, and feelings of individuals. The role of Biology in psychology has assisted me in reflecting on my personal life concentrated more on my family. With two pairs of twins at home displaying different characters, I learned why one pair resembles behaviourally while the other one repels. The identical twins seem to have an interest in the same games or hobbies, like arranging items and riding bicycles. On the other hand, the fraternal set seems to surprise us more each day, as they are more enemies than friends. When one of them is playing, the other one would be busy falling down her objects. However, through the study of the first topic, I discovered that identical twins display more excellence in mannerism compared to non-identical twins (Furr, 2011). Through the research of inheritance, I realized that identical twins share the same genetic makeup. On the contrary, fraternal twins share only 50% of genes. Psychology provides solutions to the numerous questions I have had concerning the physical development of my family.
Studying sensation, perception, and consciousness has been instrumental in the shaping of the life of my family. Sensation entails encoding what sensory receptors present to the mind. With judgment, the brain chooses, categorizes, and interprets messages from the sensory receptors. Through the study of the second topic, I realized that I expected too much from the identical twins compared to the fraternal twins. I was looking forward to poor school performance from the non-identical twins that were disorderly, and with constant fights (Orth, 2017). On the other hand, I was confident that the identical twins, more organized, would be at the top of their classwork. However, I later noticed that it was only a misdirected sensation, perception, and consciousness that I had regarding my family.

2. Describe how you will use psychology in your professional life
Through lifespan development, which is the third topic, I learned about the procedure of human development right from conception to death. It entails studying the physiological events of an individual, including their genetics and general behaviour. Furr (2011) states that with psychological development, people attain growth in language, memory as well as intelligence. On the contrary, social development entails the relationships that people have with others. As a computer expert, I will employ psychology when setting up programs to help ease the workload at my workplace. For instance, setting up the Decision Support System program could help determine sales and revenues. It enhances this by scrutinizing past information and comparing them with other related data. My knowledge could assist in solving some company problems. Besides, all work has challenges and being a computer expert is no exception. The advantage of working with other people is sharing knowledge in times of difficulty. Not only does this culture promote peace at the workplace, but it also promotes teamwork.
Through the motivation, emotion, health, and well-being topic, I learned that professional life is incomplete without some factors. As a computer expert who sits down behind a computer daily, motivation is key to better performance (Furr, 2011). Therefore, challenging the top management to add salaries would be a priority. Another way would be through conducting training and seminar sessions to equip experts with more knowledge regarding modern computer trends. Employees could also be motivated to report at their workplace because of availability of social amenities, where they can unwind after work. Similarly, perfect emotions are imperative for excellent performance at the workplace, and this is achievable through creating open communication forums where employees can air out their views. Managers can introduce a rewarding culture to the employees for best performances. Investing in healthy competition is important to employees as it develops the correct attitudes in them. A happy employee is equal to a happy workplace, therefore, increased output. One must be in good health before they can settle to work. Challenging the management to establish health care facilities for employees to seek medical attention is vital.
3. Describe how you will use psychology in your academic careers
The topic of personality and social psychology explains why people behave the way they do upon interaction with their closest social circles. It also studies the conditions under which some actions and behaviors happen. In pursuing my academic career in attaining a graduate degree, psychology will enable me to understand the cultures of my classmates from other ethnic backgrounds (Orth, 2017). I will determine fake friends from real ones who focus on studying and attaining good grades, compared to those engaged in vices. Similarly, through psychology, I will determine the subjects of my choice to pursue so I can acquire my graduate degree.
4. Explain any overlap in any of the characteristics, including anything that applies to all three areas
In all the above components, achieving the best outcome or performance is the primary purpose. Besides, a psychological view regarding human behavior is key to identifying problems and formulating solutions. Studying psychology helps people understand why they behave the way they do in a span of development. In addition, psychology explains some life mysteries and act as platforms for future reference. Psychology offers knowledge about psychological disorders and their treatments. It explains how people can seek remedy before their psychological state deteriorates.
