The success of any business, project, or aspiration often depends on the executers' abilities to plan. Planning entails having a step-by-step guide or outline on how things will be done to achieve the desired objective or outcome. It is often said that failing to plan is planning to fail, explaining why successful people plan various projects, whether complex or straightforward. I have in the past made attempts to succeed in multiple aspects of my life, including studies. According to ( Robbins, Coulter & Randel, 2021), planning takes a wide range of approaches and is often determined by the magnitude of the objective, the time and resource limitation, and the executer's abilities (s). The authors suggest that managers may choose approaches such as time frame (long term or short term), flexibility (directional or specific), breadth (operational or strategic), and frequency, which entails having in place a single-use or standing place.
One application of planning for my case was the attainment of financial independence after getting my first job. I use the time frame approach to lay down strategies for the achievement of specific goals in life. The approach entailed categorizing my plans into short-term (education, creating an emergency fund, clearing debts, and medical) and long-term goals, including higher education and owning my first apartment. The plan played a role in ensuring that I sub-divided my money appropriately to meet all the goals. Through the plan, I have been able to pay for my college education and pay a substantial amount of debt. I have saved substantially towards buying my first apartment. The first step towards the attainment of the goals was sub-dividing the plans based on urgency. This was then followed by planning and creating a time frame for each objective and the amount of money to be saved towards each project. The last step was executing the plan through a step-by-step approach that entailed following the initially designed plan.
