On issues relating to the universe, Thomas Aquinas agrees with Aristotle. In reality, Aquinas has played a significant part in establishing an Aristotelian philosophy that leads to the power of Christians in the west. However, as Aquinas combines theology and philosophy as he advances the teaching of Aristotle. When simplifying the two philosophies, it is easy to discover that Aristotle lays the framework for evaluating who might be outlined as a good person whereas Aquinas explained why someone should be a good person.

Aristotle legendarily noted in his philosophy that man is a “social animal.” and the first community of a man is the family and the second is the society. Man can achieve a good life in the community and still promotes good virtue among other people in the community. It is here Aquinas employed the Aristotelian ethic philosophy and integrates it with theology. He further applied forth the idea of God, as God is in a position to produce power and deliver justice to humanity. Aquinas and Aristotle both agree that human moral principles are subject to change. Nevertheless, the real point of connection was if or not there is any ethical behavior that remains unaffected regardless of the situation. However, a difference between Aquinas and Aristotle philosophy exists since Aristotle perceive natural rights are variable while Aquinas tries to draw a tough line in reference to the natural law; there are morals which are not acceptable in the society, and others are subject to one another.

Another difference arises in how Aristotle and Aquinas perceive virtues and ethics. Surely it’s responsible for being virtuous, and honesty is crucial on human lives. Aristotle overrated the capacity of the human to reason and underestimated the importance of love. Furthermore, he linked virtues to reasoning whereas Aquinas linked virtues more appropriately to love.

Philippa foot established a modern version of virtue on ethics and vices. Foot believes that virtues are beneficial to human life; human beings cannot live a successful without virtues. According to her virtues benefits the person, as well as the community just as bad vices, harm both the community as well as the society. In contrast to Foots, Aristotle provides a unifying framework for understanding virtues and their disadvantages, Aristotle develops his idea of the goodness and solely believed that the ultimate goodness in human life is to be happy, blessed and prosper.
