Army professional ethics are vital for the reinforcement of trust within the profession and the other American citizens. Also, ethics are essential for the development of character, content, and various strategies within the doctrine. Within the army, there is the existence of a command climate that represents the culture of a unit and will dictate how they conduct their businesses. As the current command sergeant major (CSM) and being the close enlisted advisor to the officer in command, the army professional ethics will play a primary role in positively impacting the command climate.

As a CSM, I would utilize the army professional ethics to impact the command climate through enhancing their critical thinking positively. Processes for the right decisions are essential for positive outcomes. Through the professional ethics, the command climate will develop a disposition for curiosity, and that will assist them to be aware of the biases and the various behaviors that deter them from the real positive change in manners that they will seek solution and engage with the other colleagues ("The Applied Critical Thinking Handbook," 2016). The ethics will allow me to borrow the techniques, methods, and various frameworks that will assist in the creation of education and practical applications that will be the best safeguard against individuals and the virtue of organizations towards being bias, the various errors in cognition, and the thinking of the group.

Equally, the various army professional ethics will assist in fostering a culture of empathy within the command climate. The ethics will facilitate the development of better questions about the culture of the command climate, facilitate planning, and policymaking. It is impossible to know the culture of others unless one develops a culture of their own with assumptions that control their lives ("Army Doctrine Publication 5-0," 2012). With the army professional ethics, there will be a better understanding, interpretation, and analysis of the command climates culture. That will create a framework that will best describe the unit culture through the creation of cultural empathy. Equally, there will be a separation of religion in the command climate into various elementary parts and basic principles not for the isolation of the elements but to determine the nature of the culture of the whole command unit.

Besides, the army professional culture will be essential to the command climate through the creation of self-awareness. Our everyday life is a flurry of activities that requires our attention. Various people are diverse and sophisticated in their way. However, with the army professional ethics, it would be possible to dedicate subjective time to the personality traits of the various soldiers within the command climate ("The Applied Critical Thinking Handbook," 2016). The understanding of an individual's personality will assist in the identification of the strengths, weaknesses, and motives that dives an individual towards making effective decisions and engage in interpersonal communication. The ethics will allow me to make the members of the command climate focus on their values. Through that, the command climate will be in a position to accomplish what they consider vital and essential. They will be able to recognize their feelings that impact their thinking and acting through their emotional self – awareness. Thus, the army professional ethics will assist in the creation of a cultural community where the members of the command climate are in a better position to share their ideas and reflect on the challenges that they face as a group.
