I agree with your analysis of how situational leadership applies to the case study. Based on the video, it is clear that situational leaders can utilize dynamic leadership in order to accommodate all the needs of the employees ( Northouse, 2014) . Participative leadership is the ideal form of leadership as it can engage the employees in the decision-making process of the organization. Engaged employees feel like part of the organization and that the company considers their opinions and views. Art’s team lacked any form of engaged and did not feel appreciated by the leader. For instance, a supportive supervisor would be ideal to listen to the employees.

The three leaders have different leadership styles. As you have rightly established, Tom is more of a Laissez-Faire leader who can form friendships with everyone in the company but is not able to give any directions ( Braun, Child, & Saborio, 2014) . Carol is a democratic leader who can empower and encourage her employees. I agree with your view that Tom would benefit from directive leadership that would benefit the shift. My analysis is that participative leaders in an organization can encourage employees and engage them, which increases job satisfaction ( Northouse, 2014) . The authoritarian approach adopted by Art is one that requires as it draws the leader away from the rest of the employees.

Both Art and Tom have limitations when it comes to the right leadership style that would benefit their employees. They fail to engage employees or provide guidance when required. One of the ways of ensuring that employees are happy is by engaging them in the decision-making process of the organization. What is important is for the leaders to practice participative leadership where the focus is on empowering employees ( Northouse, 2014) . Empowering employees means that the leader considers their views and they feel important to the team.
