Sculpture, Painting, or Drawing

Critical thinking and creativity are required to develop art production since the artist will use images and craft objects. The choice of materials or art objects is based on personal experiences in artistic work. A person can interpret experiences, memories, and ideas and use them in the physical creation of an object.

Inspiration Piece

Figure 1: Chevaux de la Grotte Chauvet, South France, 1994.

The greatest source of my inspiration in this art is the prehistoric cave painting that involves a horse, which was founded in December 1994, South France. The Chevaux de la Grotte Chauvet was identified after there were discoveries and exploration of cave paintings. About thirty thousand years ago, charcoal was used in the crafting of some arts. The artwork shows that three different colors are used to draw four horses while their heads are given more emphasis through shading. There is a double line used to represent the portraits of a horse while the animal is standing side by side. The anatomic representation is used to present the precision of paints and engravings using mixtures of painting. A mixture of charcoal on the floor is easily visible (Whitley, 2009). A person can ascertain that a clear look at the painting is made using palm and some partial red handprints. There are different drawing and shading that have representations of various perceptions.

My Art Piece

Figure 2: Magical Winter Trees, 2019

Magical Winter Trees is my artwork piece. A water paper was used to achieve excellence in the painting process. The entire painting was done using watercolor pencils. There were other materials used to make the artwork, such as paint, marker, and crayon. Random lines were created using the white crayon in the tree trunk and branches (Whitley, 2009). This helped in making them more appealing to the viewer. The viewing of the painting shows that the line plays a significant role in guiding the eyes of the observers. The use of lines in the painting was also communicating the sense of movement, energy, and stillness. The fat and soft brush were used to paint the river flowing and trees in the rear background portraits. The red painting of the tree was indicating that it is the winter season. The reddish color was also reflected in rivers.

Connection

The two-artwork work has visual elements that are connected and demonstrates the same thing. These visual elements involve color, font, line, form, shape, space, texture, and value. They are used to convey the look of action and feeling to the observers. Also, they have been used to guide the eyes of observers when looking throughout the piece of art. It was possible to identify differences between the two arts when closely examining the artwork. There were different media used to portray Chauvet painting in prehistoric art work (Whitley, 2009). The Chauvet painting was created using a charcoal floor. These are rough lines and texture attributes. This was different from the Magical Winter Trees because it was created using soft brushes and pencils. The use of painting brushes and pencils generated clear visual elements in the Magical Winter Trees. It was easier to create random lines for the tree trunks and branches using pencil and soft brushes.
