Moreover, this period also influenced the art of building by enhancing architectural styles and the use of different decorations and furniture in people’s homes.

Social, Political, and Environmental Aspects of the Era

The concept of Romanticism had an impact on the social life among Americans. The people had an opportunity to make free choices concerning different aspects of their lives. Furthermore, the authors were able to express their private sentiments on a variety of sensitive issues within the society with a lot of excitement. Therefore, members of society lived in an environment where they expressed their emotions. Consequently, the concept introduced a lot of liberation among members of society.

Romanticism influenced political ideologies and invited people to participate in activities like helping and sharing that promoted the well-being of the poor and oppressed within the society. The government had the opportunity to serve the people and they were perceived as part of the country’s political history (Karandashev, 2015). Additionally, romanticism is a movement that enabled members of society to revolt against the political norms imposed on the people during the Age of Enlightenment and they served as a rationalization against scientific nature. For instance, individual artists had an opportunity to write their own creative stories and explore their imagination without restriction based on logic. Moreover, the concept encouraged people to question things boldly compared to accepting anything blindly. As a result, there were many changes in politics that resulted in liberalism, nationalism, and also radicalism.

The romanticism period was characterized by people's love for nature. The Romantics perceived nature as pure and uncorrupted and therefore the members of society perceived it as a symbol of a good life. Moreover, individuals associated nature with a spiritual perspective that enabled environmental conservation. Thus, the new era of romanticism brought a new perspective on the relationship that people had with their environment. The Romanticism movement caused significant changes in society. This period allowed exploration of art, spirituality, and emotions that had been diminished during the Age of Enlightenment (Ryan, 2018). Nonetheless, the movement also enabled members of society to understand the essence of emotions and art in life. The changes introduced in society through the Romanticism concept had a positive impact on the general society and what the people believed.

The Built Environment of the Era

The concept of Romanticism was significantly expressed through architectural concepts where the artists tried to exemplify the styles. For instance, the artists working during this period were attracted to Medieval Gothic architecture at the time, which led to the revival of the style. Moreover, the architectural style was linked to a type of buildings known as folly. This style was an expression of strong emotions by the participants. Additionally, the architectural styles were designed in such a way that they shared some attachments with the natural environment.

Romanticism further influenced the interior designs in buildings to fit the imaginations of the people. A key feature in these rooms included a sense of intimacy, which influenced the emotions of the dwellers. Notably, Romanticism entailed a surge of emotions, and people linked feelings to particular objects. Additionally, the interior designs were decorated using bright colors while also ensuring that simplistic shapes were created.

During Romanticism, consumers had access to classic pieces of furniture that aligned with architectural styles, interior designs, and decors. People during this period to the softness of the furniture and the organization designs used to arrange the various pieces to create an ambiance environment in the rooms (Baskin, 2013). The furniture was characterized by curved edges, antique, painted, and vintage pieces. Consequently, the pieces of furniture had patterns that symbolized elegance. Some of the decorations used in the interior designs included plants, flowers, and birds. Moreover, homeowners also had an option of selecting wallpapers if it was their preference for wall decorations. The choice made for the decors used in the houses had to have some aspects of class and elegance. Moreover, the decorations had to represent the liberalization of the mind among the Americans during Romanticism.

Furthermore, the concept encourages the artists to be more imaginative as they express their feelings and emotions through art. The theory of Romanticism emphasizes the purpose of emotion and art as it ridicules the idea that only logic and science are important. Therefore, Romanticism targeted improving the livelihoods of people by ensuring that they adapted liberal ideologies and promote positive change among the members of society.

Analysis

Romanticism had a significant impact on the culture of the people living during this era. People began to reconsider aspects of their culture that were unfavorable. Romanticism movement resulted in the members of society improving their ideologies concerning freedom and their ability to express themselves on a variety of issues. Moreover, paint artists utilize this form of art to demonstrate their imagination of the human experience. Before the Romanticism period art was not considered important in society. Romanticism emphasized the importance of equipping the houses within the built environment in such a way that it introduced a sense of elegance and class within the homes.

Romanticism had an essential impact on the social, political, and the built environment among individuals that lived in this era and generations after. It is a period that people felt free to express their imaginations and emotions. As a result, art was the primary driver for many activities. The Romantic period was a relief from the Age of enlightenment when logic and reason dominated their lives. The industrial revolution was thus mainly influenced by art.
