Summary
Teachers and education administrators require a constant assessment to train them and help them develop quality teaching skills. Assessment refers to the process of collecting and interpreting information to be used by educators, students and stakeholders ("Guiding Principles for Classroom Assessment", 2015) . There are eleven basic principles of assessment, and this article aims to analyze them. The article furthers our understanding of how these general and fundamental principles are used to improve student learning and teacher effectiveness. These methods and procedures are useful in both large-scale and classroom environments.
The first principle is that assessment is inherently a process of professional judgment. This principle assists teaching professionals in realizing the importance of their judgment and other people's opinions in evaluating a student's work. The principle affects the quality of the assessment and the meaning of the results. The second principle states that assessment is based on separate but related principles of measurement evidence and evaluation. This principle helps the professionals to differentiate between degrees of a trait by description and the interpretation of the description of scores. It equips teachers with the ability to understand descriptive statistical procedures (McMillan, 2000).

The third principle acknowledges that assessment decision-making is influenced by a series of tensions. This means that the cause of pressure and competition in the teaching profession results from various factors exhibiting tension. These tensions include traditional vs. alternative, learning vs. auditing, and speed tests vs. power tests. The fourth principle indicates that assessment influences student motivation and learning. This means that the nature of assessment determines what is learned by the student and how the student will engage and respond during the learning process.
The fifth principle determines that assessment contains errors. It enables professionals to understand that classroom and standard assessment errors are inevitable. The eighth principle states that good assessment is fair and ethical. It explains that good assessment must follow the four views of fairness, including avoiding bias, equal treatment, equal outcomes, and learning opportunities.
The ninth principle indicates that good assessment has multiple methods. This provides that there are different methods and approaches that educators can choose from when making assessments. The tenth principle states that good assessment is efficient and feasible. Assessment is important in equipping teachers with skills and increasing the level of support and resources. The final principle states that good assessment appropriately incorporates technology. It is important for educators to use computer-based skills in assessment as technology provides for limitless resources.

This article provides a summary of tools and equipment to assist teachers and school administrators in assessing the students. I agree with the fact that these principles are clear guidelines for assessment. These principles are ways to improve the educational system, and they help create a relationship between the educators and the students. It has enhanced the incorporation of technology in the education system. The article also explains the importance of assessment and the different ways that an educator can assess the students. It has explained ways to test the validity, efficiency, and reliability of assessment.
Reflection
I enjoyed reading and analyzing this article. I found it interesting as I did not know of the existence of assessment principles. I have understood that these principles provide a variety of assessment methods enabling the teachers to conduct valid assessments. The article was also well organized with subtitles making it easier for me to understand and review. I would recommend this article for use by professionals in the education industry.
